With the Williams kid coming in next year, and with AJ at less than 100%, this team needs him.

Maybe he's not that good. I have no reason to believe that he is.

The point is the run game was MIA today. Although Edmonds looked good today. As far as Dorian Brown, I have no idea what his capabilities are. JD's running ability is impressive.

And even better because it follows the above post!

The kid came from Canada. He has skill. You want an idea of Canadian HS football, check the AP wire in Ohio, Indiana, PA, NY and see how many Canadian teams travel south to become a fall break and cannon fodder.

During one of the scrimmages Arkley wrote Maleek carried 5 guys into the end zone. Also, from my understanding, Oulette played at a small school, I would guess the competition he faced in HS was not the best, but he has proved he can play as a frosh.

What to you suggest to revive the running game?

Competition is one thing, and AJ's school would beat one of the top flight schools in Canada 9 of 10 times. It is worse than comparing Ohio HS football to WV HS Football. There largest schools loose to mid and small schools in OHIO all the time. The kid has talent, yet, he's for the most part been unexposed to real football. Let him giant that year, and grow mentally and physically.

As for what I suggest to reviving the running game. That is simple! You keep working! Our OL is young, our backfield is young and inexperienced, our passing game has been subpar and not been able to help establish the run. There is no magic bullet, they just have to keep 'chopping wood'. Today, the staff listened to Monroe and employed a two back system for must of the game, and you can tell from the results, Monroe's, theory failed to pay dividends.! Hence there is NO magic bullet! Keep working!

What little credibility you have is completely lost with your inability to differentiate between "lose" and "loose". Big high schools, even from Canada, do not "loose" to small schools in Ohio all the time.

Daz was suppose to be good too these kids coming from big schools and are suppose to be great arnt at all do who cares Ouellette came from a small school hes the best back we have, we just have to block theres no blocking to open up anything I mean should our running backs be getting hit soon as thry get the ball

Obviously if Maleek was ready to play, he'd be playing. The fact that he needs a redshirt year does not mean he won't be a good player someday. We'll just have to wait and see.

I agree with Billy's comments - they just need to keep improving. I keep seeing improvement, with each game. I did note one other thing they did, that Monroe suggested. They mostly used Daz for wide plays, less so inside, and used Edmond and OUellette mostly inside. OUellette's ankle obviously took some of his quickness away, but he still had some power.

He may be a good player someday, he may not. But he's another example of an under-the-radar guy that otherwise would be at a 1AA or D2 school. Meanwhile, BG has tons guys with BCS offers on the field. Who do you think wins?

The other side of the argument to all who argue that Malek is not ready this year is, that the coaching staff thought that Daz and company could get it done without him. But 46 attempts for 127 yards sucks! I agree there are a lot of good things happening out there, and next year offers promise. Edmond also showed promise yesterday, and looked hungry. With a big back, even without blocking, you might see more 3 yard gainers, instead of 1 or none with a smaller back. Can't hurt, since Oulette went down, the rushing attack stinks.

I agree that we need to keep "Chopping Wood" as Grobe would say in addition to "Knocking some Snot Bubbles" at the line of scrimmage. As for Monroe, we could try double road-grading tight-ends next week.

Irons? You're asking asking for a kid that you dont even know if hes good or not. Have you ever played football? I agree with most people stay doing what we're doing, I see a good future I just think the senior and junior class is weak. I think its funny how people think you should be the best every year, if you know football then you'll know you have to rebuild every so often

Obviously you (and Billy) know more about football than I do. Played rugby, never football.

Last post for a while, as I am working on a Sunday because I have a deadline.

My point is the status quo is not to good. When you can move the ball as much as we did yesterday, but still not score, a little tinkering may improve the product.
In my humble opinion the running game could use some tinkering:)

peace

This kid is a player and will play in the future. We need better play calling. We play not to lose instead of playing to win. We need a better line as well. Our line i adequate and not elite, so are our quarterbacks. The defense needs to tackle better. We also need to play more man coverage and design some blitzes. We need to force more turnovers.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes
