Deep breath, man. Something can be a rumor and end up true. It just means something is unverified. And the board policy is very clear about doing so about people's personal lives.

Knowing something doesn't make saying it publicly behind an alias some admirable thing to do.

Bobcatblitz may well know the story completely, and have all the facts correct. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean BA should allow them to be posted. I'm curious as to the truth, but I can wait to see what evidence is actually produced in court before I make up my mind what the outcome should be.

My Sources were literally personally involved and I didn’t name any names. There were already many INCIDENTS that were results of SEX & ALCOHOL. You add in a MARRIAGE & CHILD it was a Receipt for Disaster.

There’s been word today that Ohio really started to make the necessary moves months ago because of Chatter on Campus and then also on Bobcat Attack.

Bobcat Attack chose to dismiss my concerns oh well many people were appreciate for the heads up.

Yes, exactly. Once the allegations are a matter of public record, they can be discussed. At that point, if there is a lawsuit for defamation, it would be against the news reporter and who he works for, not against BA. The same would apply if Bobcatblitz had released the information on some other media, such as Twitter. Then it would have been in the public record, and his tweet could have been discussed. Any lawsuit over it would have been directed at him, as the source of the information.

BA policy is simple enough. It's not about protecting the guilty, nor about dismissing concerns. It's designed to keep BA from getting sued. Remember that BA is not some huge conglomerate. It's owned and operated at a loss by a few Ohio fans that support the program out of their own pocket. Any lawsuit would shut it down forever.

This response seems very personal and out of line in my opinion. Blitz did bring this very issue to the board months ago. I'm not sure why it is required that he identify himself.

I'm not sure somebody should have to identify themselves. But I do think an unwillingness to do so also means that you shouldn't come here and share second-hand rumors about people's private lives.

I'm not sure how many people remember it or know the content, but Blitz's initial post was -- at minimum -- classless. He says he didn't name names. But it referenced the sex lives of two people, both of whom are known. It also wasn't even remotely unbiased. It wasn't a statement of the facts -- it was a judgment on the character of Coach Smith based on what Blitz had heard second hand, while indicating that the source he had is reliably because of who they were "banging." His word.

Does that make what Blitz wrong? No. Is the way he shared the info the right way to do it? Also no.

It's also worth noting: so far, it's unclear if anything Smith did actually violated university policy. He showed sh*tty judgment in a lot of ways. He did things I don't personally feel are all that becoming of a leader. But based on what's known at this point, it's unclear if those things justify a 'with cause' firing.

Bobcatblitz has popped in here again recently to take a victory lap. But given what we know now, what's the victory here, exactly? Perhaps more detail will come out that makes this much more cut and dry and justifies the University's 'with cause' approach.

But if that's not the case, it kind of just feels like Bobcatblitz is a loud voice policing Smith's morals.

Does that make him wrong? Your views can/will vary. But the fact that he knew some stuff doesn't make him some sage. Far from certain that this ends up a good thing for the University, and it's far from certain that this is the right choice by the University.

Maybe there's info yet to come that closes those questions. But right now, they still feel like open questions to me.

lol. Here's the deal. Great Bobcats are the people who run this board. Posting rumors that are potentially slanderous open great guys like Ted to legal action. At this point, no one should be spiking proverbial balls in end zones or taking victory laps. This is an unfortunate situation that reflects poorly on OHIO, Smitty, all those involved, particularly the innocent members of families that are tied to this situation in one way or another.

So everyone should just chill the fuck out on themselves. Regardless of who you are, no one should be feeling vindicated about anything, because there aren't reputations to be protected on a sports chat board. It's just the goddam internet for Christ's sake.
