CBS says that former Mizzou WR Doral Green-Beckham and former Kentucky QB Jalen Whitlow are headed to EIU (although Green-Beckham's father denies that his son is going there).  Green-Beckham caught 59 passes for 883 yds & 12 TDs last season.  His problems with Mizzou were off-field.  In two seasons at UK Whitlow was 185 of 320 for 1834 yds and 8 TDs but with 7 picks.  They wanted him to move to WR but he said no.  Both would be eligible to play at EIU this season.  EIU is already maybe the toughest 1AA opponent we've had in the Solich era.

Yeah........I think we lose this game. Hopefully it's our WTF loss of the year.......but it might not be that WTF.

Green-Beckham was the #1 overall recruit in his class......that would be a major get for any school at any level.

I'm not sure about this one.   They lost an awful lot of players plus their coach from that team.   However, I'll agree that this is going to be the toughest 1AA team we've ever seen.

Green-Beckham was going to have a monstrous season at Mizzou, too. Maty Mauk and him were best buddies. Mauk brought him back to Ohio to watch a Kenton game this past fall.

If Green-Beckham does go there it's a must see show..reminds me of Moss running thru Pedan and throwing the ball over the Richland bridge.

Eastern Illinois. Per Sagarins, even though they are an FCS school, last year they were a Top 40 team, better than any team in the MAC, and would have been in the top half of the Big 10. NIU did play them, and barely beat them via MACtion, 43-39.

Their coach, from last year, Dino Babers, is now the coach at Bowling Green. They play @Ohio on September 27, and Ohio will have to play very well to win.

Agree with others on here.  This team is gonna be a challenge (probably better than that No Iowa team that beat us a number of years back, I think?!?!).  And, we win this game we are off to a good season, we lose this game I would bet we end up with a losing one.  Then, the rumbling will really begin!  It's tough to swallow losing to a FCS team no matter how good they are!  Especially when you are into year nine of a program with a coach who led a team into a Natl Championship game...ugh!

They also lost their QB as well as their coach. Garoppolo is considered to be one of the top QB's in the draft, along with Manziel and Bridgewater. We'll have an idea how good they are early because I think they open against Minnesota.

I'm pretty sure this was not at Peden, but in Huntington. He threw the ball out of the stadium and into the McDonald's parking lot I believe. Tevell Jones covered Moss well all game but he finally got a meaningless TD near the end of the game to keep his streak going. IIRC, we only had 1 first down the whole game, which was only because the Marshall D jumped offsides.

That was as bad an offensive performance as I've ever seen, but we had more than one first down on an offsides. I know Hookfin broke off a decent run at some point, but was caught from behind.

No, it was their first year back in the MAC and the winner of that game clinched the East division.

And, for the record... it was 2 first downs... ugh. Remember this team put up nearly 500 yards on a top 15 Kansas State earlier that year...

                         Ohio Marshall
First downs 2 28
Rushed-yards 34-63 51-247
Passing yards 0 209
Sacked-yards lost 1-4 3-27
Return yards 11 18
Passes 0-7-0 18-38-1
Punts 11-38.4 5-33.0
Fumbles-lost 2-0 2-1
Penalties-yards 7-67 7-45
Time of possession 22:50 37:10

This may help calm some fears about our game this year:
