In 1982 when I ran the scoreboard for the Columbus Clippers Mr. Galbreath came to the press box as he did not have the key for his suite at Franklin County Stadium (Cooper Stadium).  I had a master key and let him in.  We had a really nice chat and he said he had nobody to watch the game with and invited me to stay with him for the game.  Unfortunately, I had to run the scoreboard.  Not sure if this qualifies as a "Sports Father", but the entire family in particular his daughter made a huge positive impact for our sports program. Ray Leonard Jr.  was on campus in the early 90's and if I remember correctly, was on the track and football team for one season.  I remember a rumor floating around that he was going to buy the Union. Ben Grobe was a linebacker until he slipped walking along a brick wall late one night falling and fracturing his vertebrae.  He was airlifted to Grant hospital, he recovered but the injury ended his career.  He worked for BB&T in North Carolina for several years and has been the Assistant Director of Operations for the UNC Charlotte Football team since 2012.
