"The only way to look at it is we got one week, one game at a time. We said this week, if we win this one we're 1-0. That's how we're approaching Norfolk State and we're not looking anywhere else," Tettleton said.

I think it's fair to say the team isn't taking Norfolk State for granted. I thought this was a good article, and I think it shows TT's abilities as a leader on and off the field.

Fair to call the early schedule soft?

Maybe.  The three teams we've faced so far are 3-6 (3-3 if you don't count their losses to Ohio).  Only one has a win against a 1A school, and that was at home vs. Navy which has been outscored 84-17 in its first two games.  What's been really impressive about the Cats so far is that two of the wins were come-from-behind, on the road, in really hostile environments.

Only two teams left on the schedule have winning records at the moment, and after NSU the next six teams are a combined 4-13.

That's why I wouldn't call it so soft and New Mexico State has some athletes.

I would say to call the first three games a soft part of our schedule would be a stretch. actually, I would go so far as to say the first three games were 3 of our hardest in a row. But perhaps the writer meant it as a "this is a definite soft spot in their schedule, with Norfolk, UMASS, Buffalo and Akron being their next four games" instead of an "even softer than they already had it" type of way.

Penn State is a kicker away from being 2-1 and held Navy to less production than Notre Dame did

Marshall lost to WVU...Home of a probable NY Heisman invitee (if not outright winner) at QB...Marshall can play...We all saw that...

Sorry folks...That is most certainly not a soft schedule...

Speaking of Penn State though...Is anyone else looking forward to their game against ']['emple swagger this weekend?

I'm really looking forward to that game. I really hope Penn State upsets their swagger.

The point I was making is that the teams we've beaten so far haven't been shown to be world beaters thus far this season.  Marshall got HAMMERED by WVU (I consider a 35-point loss to be a hammering), and although Penn St was a kicker away from beating UVA, it doesn't change the fact that they lost -- to a team that lost by 36 to Georgia Tech.  The first three opponents are 3-6 overall, 1-6 against 1A schools (yes, I know their losses to Ohio count), 0-2 against AQ schools.  They are likely to do better, but so far they've only been so-so.

I miss Temple.  That was becoming a real rivalry.

I've seen crazier things happen.
