• looks like William Johnson made it to the roster as expected.
• as reported, Ohio adds WR Dayne Hammond who had offers from Ball State and YSU. Here's the Scout.com profile.

Not sure the scholly story here, but he probably replaces Chris Murray on the roster.

Thanks for the heads up Mike.......good stuff.

On the roster are about 7 players with nothing written about them....here's some info:

Garrett Foster-5'10"-190-RB-Pickerington Central

Matt Amicone-5'8"-170-K-Dresden Tri-Valley

Tyler Lang-5'11"-190-S (also played QB in HS)-Wheelersburg

James Radabaugh-6'2"-240-DE-Northland HS

These last 3 names are interesting to say the least:

Dayne Hammond.....Dayne is about 6'6"-200 from Youngstown Boardman and had multiple offers....also has a vid called The Greatest Football Player in the World....I don't always play football but when I do I'm the greatest.....stay thirsty my friends.

Mike Terpin....a tad on the small size at 5'9"-160  and his vid shows him as being a CB and a decent return man....from Delphos Ohio.

The last guy is the most intriguing---6 foot about 250 pound pounds of Matt Ringle of Beavercreek....listed as a kicker...punter...d-line guy...fullback...and wingback....wingback at 2 fiddy?....supposedly runs a 4.7.....video shows him mostly as a punter  with a decent leg:

It's not often you see a d-line/wingback combo.

Or even a "wingback." Was he a blocking back in a single wing/wing T offense in high school?

You'd be surprised how many small schools still run that. Even in the era of the spread, pounding out 300 yards per game on the ground still does a lot of damage. Especially if you get a big brusing fullback to go along with your quick wingbacks.

Arkley's blog confirms this.

He mentioned that kicker Yadzani and true freshman TE John Tanner were injured and that walk-on Mitch Ryder (without the Detroit Wheels) will join when the team expands to 125.

Like any first practice Arkley mentions the good and the bad.

Some of the good involved the secondary closing speed like last year in safety Xavier Hughes and CB Devin Bass.

Some of the bad was also a concern in spring practice.....too many drops by the receivers.

With Johnson officially in, who all did we lose from the freshman class?

According to Arkley's article today, Davon Henry will be a TE and Sebastian Smith will line up at WR. They were listed as Athletes when Ohio announced the recruiting class.

Probably a quick fix for neither Tanner or Roberts being in camp.

Did he say if any receivers stepped it up a notch?

I know this has probably been previously mentioned, but what happened with Clark, Murray, and Roberts as to why they are not on the roster?

For those of you that are twitter challenged...just hit this link once every few hours to check for Arkley updates...

twitter.com/JasonAmessenger

Btw, I'm kinda surprised Smith will be playing WR. He seemed super aggressive in his recruiting videos and seemed a really natural FS with a nose for the ball. Oh well, I guess the coaches know more than me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aggressive, nose for the ball.  Sounds like a playmaking WR to me.

TT musta watched Sebastian's performance in the Ohio D1 championship game.  2 way player Sebastian scored 2 TD's thru the air while 4 star teammate Roger Lewis scored 1.

Coach Solich may be partial to singe-wing talent.  He was a tailback in a single-wing system at Holy Name High.

My high school, Hilliard Davidson, throws maybe ten passes all season.  The years they won state championships they had to average maybe 350 yards rushing a game, with almost zero passing yards.  Perfection on the lines!
