I'm curious... As a group what do we feel is more important? Another bowl win... or a conference title?
Depending on the actual significance of Rourke's injury, and the fact OU hasn't won a MAC title in 60 years... I can see him playing on the knee, but that got me thinking... do we want to win a mac title more, or a bowl game more? It might come down to risking further Rourke injury to win a conference championship followed by a bowl game blowout.

I'm glad to see the percentages line up with what I'd have expected.
Another Potato Bowl trophy < MAC Championship trophy.

I'm a little surprised so many are willing to risk further Rourke injury by him playing next week to have a chance at the Mac title rather than let him rest and be at full power for "another potato bowl trophy"

The first P5 win. Making your first bowl game. Winning your first bowl game. First Top 25 win. First conference title. First Top 25 appearance. For a new coaching staff any of these can be milestones. It's all about what a staff hasn't done.
P5 win and Top 25 success is mostly regular season so I'd put that behind post season success. Championship level success I would put ahead of general post season success which is what bowl wins are.
A division title is more prestigious than a bowl appearance. Yes they'll talk about bowl records in P5 land because it's all 90% of those programs have since its Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson and Oregon winning the conference title every year. Bowls do though represent a level a program on. A program that makes bowls is above one that doesn't and one that wins bowl games is at a higher level beyond that.

You do realize Ohio won its last three bowl games right? A win this year would be the programs 6th since 2011.

Really?! Wow! We should fold the program then. We're done here. 6 bowls?! No more please.

The assumption you are making is there is a great fear Ohio will get scorched in a G5 bowl game if Rourke lays it out on the line for a MAC Championship and is too injured for the bowl.
Ohio has performed well in every bowl since 2011. There was a couple of close losses mixed in there. Team was overmatched against ECU in 2013 in St. Pete the last time in 2013 but stayed in it until late. The nadir of Frank's program was 2014 when there was no bowl game. That was also right when the IPF completed and the program revitalized into the offensive focus we see today. I know I'm tacking on points but from my experience the board has short memories. L.C. is saying the 2006 team had the best shot at winning the MAC and that team completely overachieved to get there, had really not the athletes to do it. 2009 was more prepared. 2011 was the best chance and all but had it with a big lead squandered. 2016 Ohio played tough against a Cotton Bowl team so long odds in that one.

A lot of players sit out bowl games now so it shows you how much its worth. I don't hear about them sitting out conference championship games.

Your poll doesn't ask anything about risking Rourke. I suspect most would agree that the MAC Championship is the more important accomplishment, but few, if any, would be willing to risk Rourke if it isn't safe to play him.

Without a doubt, the 2011 team had the best shot at winning the MAC, with the possible exception of the 2012 team before they had, if I recall, 19 season ending injuries.
The 2006 team had a chance, though, and yes, they were overachievers. Unfortunately, in the second to last game of the year, against Akron, the QB, Austin Everson, got a severe ankle sprain. He sat out the Miami game, which wasn't needed, and tried to play in MAC Championship against CMU, but he couldn't play well, and Brad Bower and Josh Febus ended up playing. If Everson had been able to play as he did all season, Ohio would have been better, but might well have lost anyway, as CMU was a very good team.

41 teams will win a bowl game this year. Only 12 win their conference.

I doubt he took any math classes in Athens and definitely did not learn the proper way to conduct a poll. And his defensive replies reinforce that. I didn't reply to the poll since it was obvious no poll was even necessary.

As L.C. has already pointed out: your poll said nothing about Rourke playing or not playing (against BG, against Toledo, or against a bowl opponent). Instead, it literally asked which was more important (presumably to us): a bowl win or a conference title.
You're the one translating "conference championship = you heartless monsters want to risk Rourke's health while only noble me is a good person" (i.e. you're making up the narrative you want to tell, completely without basis)

I was at Ford Field for that game. Yes, CMU was a very good team, and it had an outstanding QB - forgetting his name - and a standout receiver who made a couple semi-miraculous receptions that sustained drives.

From the game recap: Redshirt freshman Dan LeFevour threw for 349 yards and three touchdowns and Damien Linson had 191 yards receiving against the Bobcats' normally stingy defense.

And that was against a good Ohio secondary. The defensive backfield included 3 people who later signed NFL contracts, TJ Wright, Mark Parson, and Michael Mitchell, as well as some other decent DBs. It was a very good CMU team, and as I said, I'm not sure that, even if Everson had been healthy, Ohio would have had a chance. Still, losing Everson hurt Ohio a lot.
In my mind, the best Ohio team was the 2012 team before all the injuries, and the 2011 team. 2006 was my favorite team, because of their heart, but not the best team.

Not best season teams, but I much enjoyed watching Frank's 5 bowl-winning teams, especially in the three wins over Mountain West teams.
