Mobile would love to host you guys again.  Y'all brought a ton of fans and lot of enthusiasm.

I've been helping the Arkansas State fans with their plans and I hope to be doing the same with you.  They are pretty fired up and are booking rooms fast.  Their site is www.arkst.com

I'll be checking in frequently.  Good luck!!

Welcome back MobileBama! I had a great time in Mobile last time I was there.

The fact that ASU has been announced already and that they are 8 hours away may make travel plans more difficult for their opponent. The good thing about So Miss was that even though they brought alot of fans, many of them drove to the game on gameday. I remember from the previous trip that there weren't many flights into Mobile. After my flight was cancelled while I was stuck in Memphis (I think the flight crew was a no show), I ended up flying into Gulfport MS and hitching a ride with a total stranger from there. Made for an interesting trip.

The rest of the trip was great though, and minus the loss, the game day atmosphere was what a bowl game is supposed to be. I'd like to go back.

Thanks, Mobile.  I was in Mobile the last time we played a bowl there and it was great.

Media reports are speculating that the bowl will want Northern Illinois this time around.

Pull for Toledo and EMU this week.  If UT wins the West, they'll go Pizza and the Cats will look better to GD.com.

Going to Mobile would be suh-weet!  As I remember it from the GMAC Bowl 5 years ago, at one point on Saturday night it seemed as if all of the Ohio people turned Dauphne Street into Court Street.

As much as I liked New Orleans last year I think that Mobile was a little better. This is mainly because of the friendly atmosphere from all of the people there. Dauphin St. was great and so was the Mardi Gras parade. I also got the opportunity to go look around the stadium the day before the game then took a drive over to Gulf Shores to check out the beaches. I think it is better to go to a stadium that isn't also hosting a bigger bowl game later on like last year. I felt that they slighted our team and fans a little because they were also hosting the sugar bowl on Jan. 4th. This is just my opinion and means nothing to anybody else.

I'm with you Steve. Thoroughly enjoyed my time in Mobile and was treated very well. I've been hoping for a chance to go back. I still have dreams of Dreamland BBQ. I think we're headed to Boise but I hope I'm wrong.

I said it in another thread.  If we win the MAC Championship and still get relegated to Boise, I will not be happy.

MobileBama: What kind of pull do you have?  Hopefully, you can see that this does not happen as we'd love a return trip to your fair city.

The fact that he came on this board before any official announcement may mean MobileBama knows something that we don't.  Just saying . . .

I'm hoping for the OHIO-Illinois ghost of Don Peden bowl in front of 50,000.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

I thought his comment about Ark State fans booking rooms had some important "sub-text"...Hotel Rooms booked by Ohio fans can be easily cancelled should the Cats not get the bid.  This is a short trip for those guys and I am sure they will turn out in force for their first ever bowl game.

Arkansas State actually went to the 2005 New Orleans Bowl, which was their first since 1970. Prior to that, the Indians (as they were then) went to the Pecan Bowl three times and the Tangerine and Refrigerator Bowl (played in Evansville, Indiana!) two times each.

I'd love to see this, too.  Peden was 2-2 against his alma mater; Solich is 1-0 (at Ohio) against the Illini!

Frank is 1-0 against Illinois. Overall the Bobcats lead the series 3-2.

Sorry for the typo.  My mind said 1-0 and my fingers typed 1-1.   I've corrected my original post now to reflect what I actually knew but didn't type the first time.

By the way, have you thought about shortening your handle to MoBama?  But then you might a bunch of people question whether you were born in the US.  Never mind.

Man OCF, you sure are persistent!   I really do hope your right as Mobile's such a great place for a bowl game (plus it would give Ohio's players a little more time to recoup from Friday night's game), but I just don't see it, unless the GoDaddy people think that we travel better.
