We get to spend a fortune traveling 2500 miles to play in the crummiest of crummy bowls against a team that barely finished 7-5 and did so by barely beating a team we beat handily in September?

Someone please remind me why such bowl games enhance the prestige of the University and further the development of our football program?

Until we start winning bowls regularly -- wait, winning bowls ever -- we might want to hold off on complaining about which bowl and opponent we get.

I'll take "Things We Haven't Accomplished Yet" for 400, Alex.

Let's keep that fact in perspective; we haven't won a bowl.  Ever.  Why are we too good for any bowl victory opportunity we can get?  When we start going to the Fiesta Bowl or the Orange Bowl, we can think of ourselves as deserving better.  Gotta get over the hump first.

I agree on the complaining part, but I do have to question the logic of having a bowl game in Idaho with a tie-in to any conference with teams not in the West. No offense to Idaho, I'm sure it is a lovely part of the country, but with the limited (and expensive) flights and the general lack of tourist-centric areas, it's not quite the bowl destination that many fans from schools in the Midwest/East/Southeast would (or could) really make travel arrangements for.

It makes an ideal destination for teams like Utah St., but a MAC tie-in?

Full disclosure: I eat more than my share of potatoes -- especially fries, mashed potatoes, potato skins and chips.

I wouldn't put a check in the win column either.  This is the same Utah State team that took Auburn down to the wire, probably should have won the game early in the season.  They also lost a close game on the road at BYU.  This will basically be a home game for them and a LONG trip for us.

We won as many games this season as we did the 5 falls I spent as a student.  I'm still sick about last night but the fact we're even complaining about a bowl is amazing considering where we've come from during the past 20 years.

To be honest, I doubt I can swing the cost of this one. Right now, I can't find anything less than $650 roundtrip. I am not even going to comment about last night, I still don't think it actually happened. That said beating Miami and Temple still mean more to me for some reason. If any of you care, Utah State is about to play NMS on Direct TV 681. A common opponent for both of us (NMS). It would be pretty much a home game given the proximity (Logan).

EDIT: My bad. That was a replay. US 24   MNSU 21

Another problem with the Humanitatoe Bowl -- as with the Nawlins Bowl and the NM Bowl -- is that it comes outside the Christmas vacation schedules for most local schools.  I'm sure a lot of Bobcat fans would love to combine skiing with football, but just can't because the kids have to be back in school on Monday the 19th.  Once again, scheduling for TV hurts attendance.  It might not be such a big deal during the last part of the regular season, but empty seats really degrade a bowl game, especially since many of them rely more on attendance for their very existence.

We will get by.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will survive.

Not remotely true -- mostly they pass that risk onto the schools.
