This was posted this morning and claims to contain "all the latest rumors," but I wonder how much attention they actually pay to MAC rumors.

I'm sure their 'latest rumors' mean they know less than us.  Looks like they picked us to win the MACC and then went 1 2 3.  Be sure to eat yer taters.

ESPN has us in Spud, and Temps v. UCLA in Kraft Fight Hunger.   How do they get a better bowl (better payout?) as a reward for getting beaten by Ohio and BUGS?

Any chance that we NIU, Toledo, and Temple are chosen over us as the MAC 1,2,3 and we go to the Hunger Bowl?

Only if we worked that deal out with the conference. We have to be chosen at least #3 because we were MAC East champs.

That's one of quirks of being in the MAC.  The MAC has contracts with GD, Pizza and Tater.  GD and Pizza alternate years in getting the #1 and #2 picks of MAC teams (not necessarily the top two teams in the MAC) and Tater gets pick #3.  The rest of the MAC teams can then get invites from any bowls that have openings because the conferences or indies that they have contracts with couldn't fulfill them.  For example, Army had a contract with KFH this year, but Army isn't bowl eligible, so KFH can pick from among bowl eligible teams that aren't needed to fulfill obligations.  So even tho Temps finished second in the East, they could get a better bowl because NIU, OU and maybe Toledo get picked to fulfill the MAC's contracts.  The MAC and Sun Belt may be the only two conferences that this happens to.  About the only way to get around this is if a bowl with a good payout expresses an interest in one of the division champs and the MAC clears it.  And of course if OU had a high enough ranking to qualify for a BCS bowl, that would take priority over the MAC's contractual obligations.  Maybe next year, after we beat Penn State and go undefeated.

We will get by.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will survive.

I wouldn't put too much credence in CFN's last guesses for the bowls.  They have Southern Miss, which just beat top ten ranked Houston to win Conference USA, in the Bell Helicopter's Armed Forces Bowl as Conference USA's #3 team!  I'd be shocked if we got anything other than the FIPB (thought I'd try to be the 1st with that really bland acronym).

I think our administration needs to fight for OU to go to the Pizza bowl.  I know thats not a popular destination but its better than Boise.

If you were the selection people at the Pizza Bowl, would you seriously consider Ohio over Northern Illinois or Toledo?  Both Toledo and Northern Illinois are better than us (not by a lot but at least Northern Illinois is better) with a much better postseason history and they probably travel as well or better than us.  With an 0-4 record in the MACC and 0-3 record in bowls, for now I don't think we can expect much better than the Potato Bowl.

Ohio needed to win to avoid Boise, it didn't.

Any chance we get Detroit again, or does that hope amount to the proverbial snowball's chance?

Unfortunately, I think the Potato Bowl is the most likely destination for Ohio. As has been stated, Northern Illinois is almost a lock for the GoDaddy.com bowl, but even that is not a guarantee. Deals can be worked out. I think the one thing Ohio has going for it is that its fans do travel slightly better than some of the other MAC teams involved in the bowl talks, but ultimately, all MAC teams travel such small numbers, that it probably doesn't make a big difference. The Bobcats do not have to get one of the three MAC bowls, though. It is possible something could be worked out to get them a better bowl, while sending another team (maybe Temple or Western Michigan) to Boise. I think that is the best hope of all Ohio fans.
