Now this would be great at a bar or a house party (except for the song being crappy), but cranking the decibels for hundreds of kids to hear? Gameday experience details .. I know ...

Just for humor's sake: DigitalSpy gave the song one star out of five, saying it is "one of the most boorish, witless singles in recent memory.The music is bad enough, its sub-GaGa production bearing all the class of a street-bought 'Romex' watch. Somehow though, the lyrics manage to take the song into a whole new world of awful, reading like a passion-free imbecile manifesto." According to the review, the song is likely to be the "emotionally and artistically most bankrupt pop song" of 2009."

That's nothing compared to the mother****** dropped by Eminem over the PA system at the Arkansas State basketball game.

I thought, though, when I saw this thread title that it was about the young lass in the row ahead of me who was rooting for that school from Oxford. Talk about poor taste!

Really? Have you put the call into Schaus asking for more Sinatra or Perry Como? I figured someone would find a fault with the game last night, I just didn't think this would be it.

Unless I'm mistaken, the 110 doesn't sing the lyrics. It's an instrumental version.

THAT was completely inexcusable. I could see a good number of folks cringing in the rows around me. I don't mind them playing bad music (so long as it's clean)...but playing unedited stuff is completely bush league. This has happened way too much this year, especially at basketball and volleyball.

There's another song that's dropped the f-bomb at several volleyball games. No idea who it's by, but needs to get off the playlist ASAP. Again, this stuff is just inexcuseable....

I'll take it as a good thing if people are having to nit-pick the music choices again...Hoping we'll pump the Mayberry theme over the PA or whatever. I can't really take many of them serious though.

I'm genuinely surprised people still get offended by profanity as though it's not commonplace or something they're liable to hear during the game anyway.

is this a joke? you can't possibly be offended by these lyrics. you think children shouldn't be exposed to a song that says "I make those good girls go bad." seriously? is this your first time listening to music? if you're a monk thats lived his whole life in the hills and has just recently reentered society I apologize for my lack of sensitivity.

I think most of us can tolerate the music choices, even if it's not something we'd be listening to in the car. But I think most of us can also agree that profanity is crossing the line. There's a big difference between "suggestive" lyrics and having "mother f*****" blast over the sound system at Peden or the Convo.

It's not commonplace to have f-bombs and smutty songs broadcast over the PA system at family events for the general public. It's not known as a sound business decision. It doesn't happen at Oakland Raiders games. They have Ice Cube rapping there, but he doesn't perform "F tha Police" or "No Vaseline." What do the choices that Mr. Schaus and company are making say about their knowledge of event management or what they think of the fans?

the lyrics to Good Girls Go Bad are so vague that they could just as easily be describing the plot to Footloose, but somehow all you hear is xxx porn? I think the problem is that you're a pervert. We're all watching a Dairy Queen comercial and you're telling us its 2 girls 1 cup.

as for the songs with actual expletives, I agree those shouldn't be played over the PA.

I'm OK w/censoring F bombs, genetalia references, and any specific reference to felony level criminal acts lyrics (i.e. rape, murder, etc.).

OK however to use any other parts of the tunes w/o those type of lyrics - especially rockin'/motivational/pumpin' instrumental parts of the tunes, it all can be edited. I would rather see 'winks" than gasps.....

Does anyone have the slightest idea if Jim Schaus (or one of his minions) has read this thread? Jim, being himself somewhat of a moralist (with all the good connotations of that word), might be very interested in the thoughts express by PF about the inappropriateness of some of the muzak played at both basketball and football games at times. I suspect that he doesn't pay much attention to that aspect himself and delegates those responsibilities to less mature members of his team. I'd like to make one constructive suggestion myself. A few years ago one of our Attackers put together a rap piece extolling the virtues of Ohio basketball. I remember posting that it was the one rap song that I actually liked. It was kind of a generation bridge. I would just love to see this kind of rap song done for both basketball and football --- and Volleyball for that matter. It's both contemporary in style and relevant to the venue. Furthermore, it was not offensive to anyone's sense of morality and would be "kid friendly." Let's look for creative solutions like this that we can all agree on rather than finding reasons to bash each other oner the head for no good reason.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that the pros and cons for mild censorship in this thread split roughly along the lines of those who have had the pleasure of explaing *($F$WF to their 6 year old and those who haven't. That was kind of the dividing line in my tendency to more puritanical thinking.

No one should be subjected to X rated anything in any public venue when there is no reason to expect same beforehand and I sure don't expect it at a college basketball game. If I was to buy tickets to an Eminem show, that would be different. I'm willing to bet I could even tolerate "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" at my next Beatles reunion.

Hmmmm. Guess I misinterpreted the lyrics as a Biblical story. I thought it was about that pesky snake, the apple and that blond naked chick from the illustrated children's book my grandma gave me.

I figured them playing that song would remind those in attendance to make sure to grab two snakes at Sunday's service...

I don't endorse the furry lifestyle, but when the Bobkitten is involved things can change mighty quickly...
