Any chance Frank gives him a call?

Intriguing.  There is the Cornhusker connection.  Are we currently grooming anyone as Frank's successor?

He knows how to win at Buffalo. I wouldn't mind seeing him rehired there when they fire Quinn next year. I think he'd also be good at Akron.

Big question is: does he forfeit the remaining four years severance with KU if he takes a new job?

If he had four years left on his contract when terminated, Kansas would have to pay him annually the difference between his new salary and his Kansas contract.  Frank had a similar deal when he signed with Ohio.  For a few years he was getting something like $1.5 million, only about $400,000 of which Ohio was paying.  The parties can agree on a lump sum instead of an annual payment, but as I understand it most schools prefer not to do this, because they might end up paying less if the coach moves on to a higher paying job before their contract period is up.

Don't think so.  I would think Dr. Osborne, AD in Lincoln, would be calling him.  Coach Gill would be well suited to follow Dr. Osborne as AD.   L.C., is there anyone else in  the AD's office that Dr. Osborne is grooming for the job?

For which job?  Currently, we have no openings.

A new position could be created, "Quarterback Quality Control".  Turner would be in charge of calculating how many series each QB would play and then communicate that ahead of time to BobcatBlitz!

Actually, Ted, Gill didn't fare all that well at Buffalo.  Indeed, based on his record there, I was surprised he got a Big 12 shot.

In his 4 Buffalo seasons, the Bulls went 2-10, 5-7, 8-6 and 5-7.  That 8-6 seaon included a bunch of cliff-hangers when the ball bounced Buffalo's way.  Four OT games of which the Bulls won three.  They won another game by 2.   They did lose a pair of games by 2 and 3.

The year after he left the fall-off continued, with another 2-10 record.

He took over a Kansas program that had been declining: 12-1 in 2007, 8-5 in 2008 and 5-7 in 2009.  Gill couldn't reverse the slide, going 3-9 (and losing to North Dakota State) and 2-10 (including a win over McNeese).

In Ohio terms, Gill strikes me as a Cleve Bryant - highly effective college quarterback who lacked the package of intangibles that demarcates head coaching success from mediocirty or failure.  Gill might be a stellar QB coach, but I'll be surprised if he lands another HC job at the 1-A/FBS level.

I don't think success at Buffalo necessarily had to be measured by wins and losses.

He got that gawd awful program bowl eligible.

"He won at Buffalo" had the same ring to it that "He won at Ohio" did when Wake Forest called Jim Grobe.

Couldn't hurt. Gill did a bang up job at Buffalo and well... lets me honest.... he didn't have any talent at Kansas after Man"two ton"gino left the program. Mangino had then on a run and in the end, it was obvious they were not that great.
I'd call him if I was Solich. Frank obviously still has a lot of connection to Nebraska and former Huskers. I'd welcome him to the OHIO family.

I got it!  Since it's become very apparent within the last 2 and a half days that the most important position on the team is that of back-up quarterback, Gill could be Backup Quarterback Coordinator!  Sorry, I couldn't help myself, it was too easy.....
