The only other play more important than this was the Weller GW field goal.  If we got helmet stickers, Jones would need two.

Several key plays in last several minutes.

Don't forget the Riley Dunlop reception for 14 yards on 2nd and 15.

That was BIGGG!!

The BG penalty that gave us a 1st down was also a biggie. They only had 3 for 16 yards but that 5 yarder was  a big help in sustaining the drive.

And, since our front four can't get to a QB, why don't we do this more often?

Speed to be sure.  But it appeared he also showed strength because it looked like the O-lineman tried holding Jones.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Jones also delivered the hit on Schilz with time running out in the first half that forced the Travis Carrie interception and run back that set up three crucial points. That's at least a six-point turnaround there, perhaps ten, and another large reason we won. And aren't we going with a D-LINE of Blake Jones, Octavius Leftwich and Anthony Grady during passing situations? That's two LBs and a CB bringing the heat. And they do a good job.

Yes - Jones' pressure was key to Carrie's INT at the end of the half.  That speed-rush line was big tonight!

Oct. Leftwich should have been involved in the defense all year he is big and fast!

Acutally I've got a photo of the play. Gerlad Moore had Schilz by the leg and Corey Hasting was running at him as he let go of the pass. But Jones obviously did make a huge play with the sack.

Not that it's a big deal but #33 Blake Jones was the player wrapping up the QB not #13

hmm... I think you are right. I had consecutive pictures of QB pressure by Moore and the interception by Carrie, but it might be that the shot of Moore actually was the play before. Sorry to take the credit away from Jones there.

Moving a LB to play DE is not unusual. It it pretty common to take a high school corner and make him a safety, a high school safety and make him a LB, a high school LB and move him to DE, and a high school DE to DT. For example Huynh was a DE. The same thing happens on offense, with TE's becoming OT's at the college level (thing Chris Rogers, a couple years ago). It doesn't always work, but when it does, it often works really well because as they add size, they keep quickness.

L.C.  I have seen some QBs convert to safety very successfully.
