If the Cats win and Fiami loses Wednesday, that'll be it.  The Cats would have only two losses with one game left, and the only three-loss teams in the East would be Temps and maybe Kent (who play each other on 11/25).  The Cats have beaten both this year, so they'd have the tiebreaker.

I vote we just win it all.  It's starting to click a bit more this year that I think we can do this.

The opposing team sucks!

The possibility is a strong possibility. I don't think BG has the offense needed to run with Ohio and I think WMU is going to be too much for Miami. The cool thing is both games are played at 8:00 and not on different days so we will know as soon as we finish the BG game if we win the division title.

I hope the defensive coaching staff takes a good look at the NIU/BG game film from the other night. NIU, who hasn't stopped anyone all year, held BG scoreless in the second half. There's got to be something on film we can learn from.

Not sure if it has something to do with NIU or with BGSUcks.  The Falcons didn't score less than 27 points in each of their first four games (3-1), but haven't scored more than 21 in their last six (1-5).  Don't know if somebody got hurt or if their offense suddenly became so obvious.

That would be really neat to clinch after the BG game.  Since I'm going and all.  I'm a teacher and the recruiting rep from BG came and struck up a friendship with our guidance counselor.  Well, since he's a big college football fan, and I'm an OU fan, we swung 4 free tickets and a parking pass.  Needless to say, Thursday will be a rough day in education....

Anybody else going to the game?

I'm going. Fortunately only live 50 minutes away so it's not so bad a trip.

I will definitely make it to this one.  I recently moved to Perrysburg so it's only about a 15 minute drive to BG.  Can't wait to clinch the east and make the trip to Detroit!

Conversely, if everyone wins out, and we somehow blow the Miami game, it's going to be one hell of a tiebreak (3 losses each, Ohio beat Temple, Temple beat Miami, Miami beat Ohio)

Easiest solution?  Just win the thing next week

Will be there, braving that wind tunnel they call a football stadium trying to not be singing Aye Ziggy Zooba for seven days afterwards.

I maintain that song would've been wholly appropriate for Alex's treatment under the Ludovico Technique instead of Ludwig Van.

I'll be there on Wednesday. Taking a half day on Wednesday and Thursday to make a appearance up at Doyt. I figure we can just get tickets and move to wherever the most bobcat faithful is based on the midweek attendance of the MAC. I'll also have my phone handy to check the score of another game down in Oxford. Go Broncos!

I'm more focused on us, but I think Miami beats WMU. WMU has lost three of four and is going the wrong way..

Western has Akron after fiami. If they win both, they are 7-5, and might be able to catch a bowl bid; Without the win over the team for Oxford, there is no way.

Western Michigan is 8th in the country in passing yards and that should be enough to torch Miami's secondary. Let's be honest this Miami team is not as good as the 2010 edition that beat Temple en route to a MAC East championship. Miami has some good players outside of that they aren't very impressive at all.

Am I looking at this right?

if Kent were to win vs. Akron tomorrow (11/12) then even with a Miami loss and an Ohio win on 11/16 we couldn't clinch the division until the final game because Kent has the tie-breaker with us.  Can someone confirm or refute this?  There are tee shirts at stake. :-)

It's not that bad. In a three way tiebreaker, Miami is out, and the rest depends on the BG-Buffalo game. BG wins and Ohio goes, Buffalo wins and Temple goes.

As for Kent, there is a way for them to be champs, but it doesn't involve them winning a tiebreaker, because they lose any tiebreaker.  For Kent to be champs, they need to win out, combined with an Ohio loss to BG and Miami, and a Miami loss to WMU. That would make Kent the only one with only 3 losses. It isn't going to happen....

I agree - Ohio should just win out...

Ugh, thanks, I was confusing the Ball State (homecoming) loss with the Kent State (parents' weekend) win.  My bad memory, sorry.

For those of us that live far away, we will be able to flip between games all night.
Now if that doesn't add to the excitement I don't know what does
I for 1 have a feeling that WM does beat Miami. I really think that they are a tuffer team in the trenches.

In order for Temple to end up in a three way tie with Ohio and Miami at 5-3, Temple would also have to beat Kent.  Since kent would have lost to all three, they would have no impact on the tiebreaker. Not so for Buffalo or BG. Buffalo beat Ohio, while BG beat Temple and Miami. Who is ahead, Buffalo or BG becomes critical, then. If BG is ahead of Buffalo, Ohio wins the three way tiebreaker. If Buffalo is ahead, then Ohio drops out, and Temple wins the tiebreaker. The order of Buffalo and BG will be determined by their game on November 25th. Thus, if Ohio beats BG, and Miami beats Ohio and WMU, and Temple beats Kent, then the BG-Buffalo game will become very interesting.

Note the both Kent and BG could still end up East champs:
For Kent to win it, Kent needs to win out to get to 5-3, and Ohio needs to lose out, plus Miami losing to WMU. That puts Kent at 5-3, with everyone else at 4-4. If anyone else is tied with Kent, they always lose the tiebreaker, so they must have sole possession of first.

For BG to win out, they need to be tied - they win any tiebreaker. Thus, if they win out, plus Ohio loses to Miami, and Miami loses to WMU, while Temple loses to Kent, and Kent loses to EMU, then everyone is 4-4.  In any tiebreaker, even a 5-way tiebreaker, BG wins.

We were in much the same spot last year and blew it.  I have a very uneasy feeling about this game.

That was last year, this is this year. We beat BG by at least 2 TDs and have the coronation at home against Miami in a blowout

I would look more at Kent State's blowout of BG and consistently low scoring totals by the Falcons. BG has a lot of sophomores and freshman's in their two deep so the experience factor favors Ohio. We do have Miami at home and I'm sure Frank would like to tie Don Peden's longest win streak against Miami at six.  The team has everything still to play for. A MAC Championship. A school record 11 wins. This is our time to shine.
