What is the status of Pierce - did anyone ever confirm that it was a concussion? I have to wonder as the more I watch that hit he took the more I wonder about his injuries. He was already twisted very awkwardly, when he took yet another hit on that play. It looked very painful and he's lucky he wasn't seriously hurt. Hope he recovers.

Their message board coaches states that he wont play but will suit up...I doubt they will risk him getting another concussion and ruining his pro chances..but crazier things have happened.

I'm looking forward to seeing Miami play, because I only watched them early in the season against some AQ schools and they actually looked respectable. I"m guessing going by their record and scores, they've slipped off that level since.

this is a tough one to root for because both teams suck so hard. I rooted for Fiami last year because I get so much joy out of watching Temple collapse every year, but that win cost us our spot in DC after we choked on turkey leftovers.

maybe they'll both lose and I'll be doubly satisfied.

Temple's offense will keep Miami in this game.  It is terrible.

how fitting for Temple  fans, they spend all week chattering on about JoePa with very little talk of the actual game, and now their game broadcast has been interrupted to show the PSU press conference.

Game's on ESPNU now, if you're waiting for it to come back.

Nice job by No. 43 getting the offside penalty on the punt.

Wow. Temple runs out the clock. Ohio all alone in first place.

This essentially means the Bobcats can lose at either BG or CMU and will still win the East as long as they beat Miami.

Nice win for Temple.

What was the attendance?

Seems like what would benefit Temple would be a nice, cozy stadium with a capacity of 25,000-30,000.

There is no inherent shame in moving to a smaller stadium or downsizing an existing stadium.  When Stanford rehabbed its stadium, it reduced capacity from about 80,000 to about 50,000.  In the MAC I believe Miami, BG and Ball State all have reduced seating capacity.

I think it's even better than that. If Ohio beats CMU and BG and Temple beats Kent St. (which would make BG finish 4th), Ohio would win the 3-way tiebreaker even if it lost to Miami.

Very slick analysis Ted. The odds of both Miami winning against WMU and Temple losing to KSU is about 5%. The magic number for Ohio is effectively 2 wins against struggling CMU/BGSU for the East title. Celebrate the East title by crushing Miami at home to end the season.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl

Not so fast... BG isn't likely to finish 4th if they lose to Ohio, and in fact will finish last if they lose to Buffalo as well. After a loss to Ohio they will have 5 losses, and if they lose to Buffalo as well, they will have 6, and Buffalo would have 6 or less.

If we assume Ohio beats CMU and BG, and Temple beats Kent, and Ohio loses to Miami, we have a three way tie, where each team is 1-1 against the others, kicking you down to the second tiebreaker. So, who is 4th??  Perhaps Kent, which would have 4 losses, unless they lose to WMU or Akron, but forget them because it doesn't matter where Kent finishes since they would have losses to Ohio, Miami, and Temple.

In this tiebreaker scenario the critical question is who finishes higher, BG, or Buffalo? BG would have wins over Miami and Temple, but a loss to Ohio, so if they finish ahead of Buffalo, Ohio would win the tiebreaker. Buffalo would have a win over Ohio, but losses to Temple and Miami, so if they finish ahead of BG, Ohio is out, and Temple wins the tiebreaker over Miami.

BG only finishes ahead of Buffalo if they beat Buffalo. Thus, if Ohio beats CMU and BG, but loses to Miami, they only win the tiebreaker if Temple beats Kent and BG beats Buffalo.

Yes. So add BG beating Buffalo to that scenario. Probably would make Ohio's life easier if Miami went ahead and lost to WMU.

Call me crazy, but I am significantly more concerned with road games at CMU and BG than I am a home game versus Miami.

Based on results to date, Ohio is fully capable of losing to anybody on the remaining schedule.  I am still looking for something approaching a complete game for Ohio in the MAC.  The fact that we are coming up against 3 pretty good passing teams -two of which have shown some signs of defense at times does not make me think we are out of the woods yet.

So basically if we win tonight, Temps is out, if we win @ BUGS then they are also out, and if we win all 3, we win the East! I like that logic

If we win tonight, that only puts us one-half game ahead of Temple with two left. This thing is soooooo far from over, even with a win.
