Let's start referring to him as Billy D...

It took an NBA lockout to make the MAC's television contract with ESPN worthwhile.

If the contract had put all the games on ESPN and ESPN2, it'd be worth it. When they push all of the games to ESPNU, the exposure just isn't large enough.

This...this works in terms of recruiting and building a football culture.

And Tettleton is the perfect combination of running and passing quarterback for this offense. He really is able to paper over some of his deficiencies as a passer with his legs. And there's no one I'd rather have running on the perimeter for a much-needed first down than him.

Solich's insistence on getting Tettleton snaps last year suddenly makes all the sense in the world, when goofballs like me wondered why in the world he kept force-feeding the freshman snaps in close games.

The way they showcased the Athens area and Peden from the river was fantastic. The coverage on plays was detailed by Ray Bentley. The most serious football telecast ever from Peden Stadium.

I thought Tettleton played his best game of the season.  He seemed more definitive in his decision making and throwing the ball to receivers on time.  I think we are still way too careless with how we handle the ball on offense, but I'll save that complaint for another day.  On a side note I thought the announcers did a great job.

on the midnight Sportscenter, they just ran a full highlight reel of the game and made it look really good.  Gave us a lot of kind words and talked up Solich and the job he's done w/ the program.  This was a great game...I was entertained the whole way through. It got a little cold late in the 2nd half, but was a beautiful night for football.  ....and by the way can we finally give some credit to the students for showing up to the game??!  They tripled the attendance on the other side of the stadium.  Good win Bobcats!

What would Charles Barkley do?

TT (and all the BOBCATS) were incredible, the announcers were great, as the previous poster said (sorry, I'm a little past the point of getting your name correct on my 6 year old computer) the most serious football broadcast from Pedan, with a great crowd maybe getting us another mothership appearance in the near future, AND the shot of Pedan from across the river was awesome...it might have been better if it were a little more from the east (further away from richland along the riverbank) for the camera angle, but that would have required the camera man to wear hip-waders.

AWESOME awesome spotlight for the bobcats, and an exciting win

good article in The Post about the ESPN crew and how they approached the set up. I didn't realize that they got to a location 2 days before the game. The broadcast was 1st rate across the board. (no Pam Ward, yeah!). Was a little dissapointed at the holes in the stands in the 2nd half but I can't be too mad at the students because they showed up in force and made the blackout look awesome.

Tyler Tettleton is growing into an elite QB and as a sophomore is already one of the best you'll find among Non-AQ conference QBs.  He is an absolute blessing to have.

We brought our A game out for an amazing broadcast. Awesome job showcasing Athens and the University. Even fit in some halloween footage. Whats it take to get this every game?

Great game! It made the drive afterwards and getting home at 1:45 A.M. worth it. Poor Mrs. Oldcat had to go to work this morning but at least she was able to sleep some on the way home.

There are a couple of things that I haven't figured out and maybe you all can help me in understanding.

 1. What happened that caused the QB change for Temple? Injury, performance? The sub was lights out up until the short throw on 4th down to end their chance.
 2. Is it true that Temple has yet to beat a MAC team with a better than .500 win percentage?  If that's true then why is it such a big deal that we beat them again? Don't get me wrong because I enjoy every win but why is it that the Hoot Owls are touted as a big deal when we own them?

We've been calling for Coyer to start since we lost to Toledo.. Stewart is terrible but Addazio is stubborn.

Maybe one of you broadcast experts can address this: What would it take for the university to make camera locations available on the student side, so that the primary shots would have the home side and press box in the background? The down side is you don't have the student section, but as a TV viewer, I was left wondering how the press box side looked in terms of attendance. I also think that side might be more impressive--make Peden look a bit bigger.

It's for the best that the press box side was not shown, because it was lame. I'm sure it was deliberate that there were limited views of that side of the stadium. Student attendance was awesome. Old people attendance was terrible.

Some great stat notes from ESPN's recap on Tyler Tettleton:

Ohio QB Tyler Tettleton's 3 pass TDs vs Temple gives him 20 on the season, tying the school record for a single season. Tettleton is now tied with Theo Scott for most pass TDs in one campaign and trails the single-season passing yards mark by just 134 yards with at least 3 games remaining (Bobcats are now bowl-eligible, could play 4 games).

For the first half.  95 percent or better of the old-farts who showed up stayed until the clock reached 00:00.  And, the empty seats on the press box side near us were almost all people who normally travel relatively long distances to get to Athens for a game, and probably just couldn't make the trip on a weekday.  That being said, there was a couple behind us from Dayton and my cousin and two of his friends made it down from Zanesville.  Only about half the students who showed up really seemed to care a flying fig who won the game.  Perhaps we could get our bio-tech folks over at the Edison Research Center to clone the half of the students who stayed in the second half last night and then we could kick the other half out of school and never know the difference.

Broadcast was the best job I've ever seen from ESPN on an Ohio telecast.  I recall games in the last few years where all the broadcasters would talk about was Ohio State's game that weekend.  And Anyone else remember Lou Holtz thinking the MAC had fewer scholarships than the BCS schools?

Because upside down, the Attack Cat at midfield looks like a cyclopse dog. Seriously. Look at it long enough and it looks just like a dog with one giant black eye where the mouth is. The cat's nose becomes the dog's mouth. The cat's eyes form the front legs of the dog. It's amazing!...

Watching the game from 7 hours away (I'm a poor grad student, couldn't make a wednesday night game...plus we've had an annoying tendency to lose when I'm watching games in person this year), the student section looked awesome on TV. I don't know if it was a function of the blackout or what, but even with half the student section leaving, it WAS NOT apparent on TV, in terms of bodies, holes, or noise. I think it was said elsewhere that even though 40% of the side left, the noise didn't change a bit.

I hate to be a stirer of strife, but I've got to disagree with you OCF: student turn out looked phenomenal to me, ESPECIALLY compared to what it was like when I was a student (Knorr years). It'd be nice if 100% of the students stayed till the end of the game, but it looked awesome on TV, looked like a passionate fan base, especially compared to the crowd shots at Toledo on tuesday, or most any other non-BCS week night game they've shown in the last couple weeks.

I'm off my soapbox now. Feel free to fireback (work has been slow today)
