The ESPNU graphic:

NOW: AKRON (OH) VS. MIAMI (OH)

I know there's a Miami in (FL) but I didn't know there's another Akron out there somewhere.

But I don't think Akron, N.Y., has a University of Akron, or even an Akron College.

I went through the whole first hour of the broadcast and never saw this. Do you remember where or what it was?

Well I hope that they never have to make that distinction for us.  Seems to me that it would be rather redundant:

Ohio (OH), as opposed to say, Ohio (FL) or Ohio (TX).

Well, if one of our former presidents had had his way, we'd now be Ohio State University (Athens).  Hint: This dude has a statue of himself on The Oval in The Columbus at The Ohio State University and Football Factory.

When they come out of commercial they sometimes run a graphic showing what's on now and what's coming up (usually Sportscenter).    It showed up there.

The only academic institution in the village of Akron, N.Y., with a population of about 4,000, is the following:

AKRON HS
47 BLOOMINGDALE AVE
716-542-5030
Serves 497 students.

Could ESPN have been trying to make sure the viewer wasn't confusing The University of Akron (OH) with Akron High School (NY)?  Come to think of it, that's kind of reasonable way to deal with a potential problem on the part of ESPN.

I meant to post this after the Ohio/Akron game. It was Zippy Bobblehead day at Akron. Zippy had a bad day on and off the field that day. A young lad in front of us made short work of these Zippys.
