They have us playing Eastern Michigan out in the Potato Bowl in Idaho. I am as big a Bobcat fan as any...but I wouldn't travel out to Boise to watch us play EMU. There should be a rule that you cannot play an in conference foe in a bowl game, regardless if you played them during the season or not. A lot of the fun of a bowl game, aside from knowing your team had a winning season, is to play a team you typically do not play traveling somewhere warm to do it.

On the other hand, it could be worse. These same projections have Toledo playing in the Little Ceasar's Bowl playing NOBODY because of a lack of bowl eligible teams.

I saw where one projection had Ohio State dropping to the Little Caesar's Bowl to play Temple. What if Ohio got into that slot and we had Ohio v. Ohio State in a bowl game?

But. . .

We must, under any and all circumstances, remain an FBS team! Otherwise, we'll be an embarrassment to all of our alumni, who are so excited by the prospect of a high caliber match up against EMU in the Humanitarian Bowl on December 18th that the donation money is just rolling in. The system is completely fair, and not at all rigged against us! It's extremely profitable to continue on like this, and once we finish going through the DOZENS of offers to join one of the new super-conferences that are literally piling up on President McDavis's desk, we'll be in great shape. That merger with the SunBelt will solve everything, and we'll be able to hold our heads up high because we'll still be an FBS team, we'll just be an FBS team that isn't eligible to win the FBS championship and we'll playing a really interesting schedule each year in front of 14,000 people--you know, like a high level high school team in Texas.

Honestly, we should absolutely be exploring the possibility of founding our own superconference. But we should be exploring an FCS superconference. You'd have to be delusional to think we have more in common with WVU than we do with a school like Delaware or James Madison. We should be looking to form a conference of large state Universities that don't want to go bankrupt fielding FBS football teams. Think something along the lines of Us, Miami, BG, Kent, Delaware, JMU, Maine, UNH, URI, UMass, etc.

This bowl game has it all.  Pizza theme, winter in Detroit, Toledo intra-squad scrimmage.  What could be better?

I disagree.  It couldn't be worse than playing Eastern Michigan in an Idaho bowl.

I wouldnt take must stock in this. Jerry Palm is a complete idiot and his predictions are known to be always inaccurate. ESPN is better, although we are not listed:

The thing I notice is that it looks like most conferences will be filling their allotted numbers this year.  So, I think a bunch of "bowl eligible" MAC teams will NOT go bowling.  Looks like only 2 or 3 for sure...at least at this point.  So, we better win the division or we probably don't go bowling.

And then you read this:

These guys think the major conferences won't fill their allotment and the MAC and Sun Belt will be filling in the holes.  Guess your mileage may vary...

If they are right we will have to go all the way to west coast  to play Pitt. that is too funny.

There are worse things than New Year's in San Fran. I think I'd throw down for that plane ticket. Not that it's likely to happen, but still.
