I was lookijng at the 110's schedule and saw that their 9/25/11 performance at the Bengals was cancelled.

Seems the NFL is going to be using halftime to push their new Red Zone network.
So unless this network or something else dreamed up be the NFL dies, there won't be anymore bands at pro games.

So the folks in the stadium will be exposed to something as tedious and mundane as the folks at home have with the networks' halftime shows.  I wonder if the concessionaires are up to this.

I have a friend who does the marketing and promotions for the Bengals. She told me they are not having any halftime shows this year at all. Both the 110 and Ohio State's band got cancelled. Just another reasons why the Bengals continue to be one of the most poorly run franchises in sports.

Unfortunately it's not just the Bengals.  It's my understanding that it's the entire NFL.  I'm not a fan of this at all.  I actually enjoy seeing the different bands at halftime when I go to Browns games.  It's all a gimmick to try to get people interested in purchasing NFL Redzone.

Yup.  It is a league-wide thing, having nothing to do with the Bengals.

Your solution is playing at Peden and various other venues on Saturdays this fall.  Be there.

I heard today from a band member that the Marching 110 will be at the Steelers game next week to perform.  Invited due to the publicity of Party Rock Anthem!

OSU's band did not get the axe. They are the only halftime show the Bengals are having this year.

They might go up the night before, just to make sure they don't miss the gig because of a bus breakdown.  At least they used to back in the day.  They would also schedule a Saturday performance somewhere in the area to help justify the stay-over.

Just noticed that it's a 4:15 game, so they might not do that.  That might mean leaving Athens by 7 a.m.  Ouch!

Perfect for the throw back song the 110 featured this year:

Waiting for the break of day--Searching for something to say--Flashing lights against the sky

Giving up I close my eyes--Staring blindly into space--Getting up to splash my face

Wanting just to stay awake, wondering how much I can take--should I try to do some more?

25 or 6, to 4

(as in 3:35 or 3:34 AM)
