Starting to agree with Bobcat Love about some fans in the "Tower" seats.  I've sat there for four years and never had a complaint, but my bride and I were invited to the AD's suite for a pre-game buffet and I came away, ahem, more than a little peeved.

1.  No one welcomed us to the suite or even told us where we were allowed to go.

2.  I (naturally) migrated to the buffet line, where I was questioned TWICE about whether I was entitled to be there.

3.  After filling my plate, I went looking for a table for the two of us. The only available seats (3) were at a table with an elderly couple, the gentleman somewhat kind looking, his wife much less so.  When I asked if we could join them, the woman replied, "No, we prefer to sit alone."  So we were forced to eat our food standing up. Many of these folks were done eating and showed no interest in watching the game.

4.  As I was preparing to pick out my dessert, a woman came up to me and asked me to turn my badge around so she could be certain I was allowed to be there.  At that point, I dumped my plate and returned to my seat outdoors.

Geez, I guess I would have expected someone to greet me by name. And certainly would have expected the folks in the president's entourage (the largest group of people in the common area) to be a lot more friendly and welcoming. I wonder how much you have to donate to be treated politely?

This class warfare is all relative, SBH.

My 4-year-old son and I walked up to your outside seats at the beginning of the second quarter only to get the "don't even think about crossing through the gate into the Tower seats" look from an usher when our only intent was to say hi.

Welcome to the bourgeois. You think it's any different anywhere else? Because it's not. These are the people whose rings we have to kiss to keep our program afloat.

It's almost enough to make me walk away from it all.

I have been invited upstairs for  the last  ten years and it does not change. I usually grab my food and take it downstairs to my seats.  It is not very cordial in fact very sterile. Can't cheer because one feels that it is an area for silence!!  I will continue to get my food and go to my seats, enjoy the communication and yell like hell.  You have got to admit that the food is better than the food in the concession stands.  Love those Dove Bars.

I will continue to make my generous donation to athletics as I do appreciate the direction of our programs with quality athletes, but to go upstairs, not a good reason to give.

My best memories of dining at Peden Stadium was eating leftover pizza hours after the games in the old pressbox during my days (1984-85) as a student volunteer for the Sports Information Office.

I went up there when I was Rufus. They seemed annoyed I was there. It was awkward.

Hey, I didn't ask to be invited up there.  Just saying that if you're going to invite a donor to your suite, you ought to extend a modicum of courtesy.  Especially if they are giving up their traditional pre-game trip to China King Buffet to join you.

They need to have the beer delivery guy come up and take their High Life away.

I tend to focus on the fact that:
  1. I was an invited guest.
  2. By someone's kindness, I have access to free food and drink due to number 1.
  3. Could care less who all those people are, other than those who invited me.
  4. And cannot control those other people's rudeness.
Everything else takes care of itself.  I am sure that if someone in the round house or Cutler read your comments, they would regret that you weren't treated more cordially and will see to it that your next trip is more pleasurable.

Get over it buddy..maybe you have never been in one of the 81 Buckeye luxury suites..but its like FORT KNOX. And they will escort you out roughly if your caught in there without the proper credentials. I actually like that the staff is on its job with making sure they people that supposed to be there are there. Isnt that what makes it exclusive?? What would seperate it from the free pizza buffet over at the student section if anyone and their sister could just waltz right on in. GO BOBCATS

Now just wait a minute right there...I've never seen a free pizza buffet in the student section, but I think I know how to get the students to stick around for the 2nd half......

One time when I was working on the auxiliary production crew for ESPN I acted like I knew what I was doing and treated myself to several Dove bars. Agree that they were excellent.

I was wearing both the requisite badge/lanyard and wristband.  Still was questioned on three separate occasions.

Sorry about your experience.  I've always been treated well, but there are some stuffy people in that area at times.  I have to agree with you on that one.

I'm torn on this one.  I truly believe the administration sets things up to make it a nice environment for everyone.  I think Schaus and McDavis do everything they personally can to make you feel welcome when you are a guest of theirs.  The problem lies with the other guests.  The "regulars" are often crotchety and indifferent to your presence.  This doesn't just happen in Peden.  It happens in the Rohr Room, Mem Aud, Baker Center events, etc.  These are the same folks that get pissed if you accidentally sit in their pew at church or get seated next to them at Sunday Brunch at the country club when you have the audacity to bring children to the dining room.  I usually get mad at these folks because they seem to easily forget what it was like to be younger and new to that scene.  Then, I remind myself I'm 30 years younger than them and they'll all be dead soon anyway.

There has to be some sort of security procedure to make sure only invited guests are in there.  I'll bet in was someone that is very green, like a Sports Ad student providing that security.  I tend to cut them some slack.  They are learning the ropes and may have never been in a luxury box in their life.  I had no idea how to act the first time I was in one.

Exactly, it is the folks who are regulars there, some are not very nice.
