I was pilloried a couple of weeks ago for calling Blankenship's play into question.  Sure seems like the coaches agree with me.

Because we went with the #1 of our best available running backs (until he fumbled)) ???

No.

Explain, then, why cornerback Omar Leftwich got more carries (2) than Blankenship (0).

Just working off memory, but Blankenship got at least one carry, maybe two.

We only ran the ball 23 times.  Did you see the game--Rutgers' defensive line is pretty good, especially against the run.  In that case, why keep beating head against wall.

And we were playing from behind all night so more likely to pass and ignore the running game.  That our back-up running backs didn't get many carries is not remarkable--carries no particular meaning--in such circumstances.  Also, Blankenship caught two passes.

Did Omar really have two carries?  Maybe those were really Beau?

This is a scoring mistake, because he and Tyler have the same number. I think there have been errors like this the last few weeks...

...which begs the question...

Why do we have two starters with the same number? I figured duplicate numbers are usually assigned to practice squad players or special teams players. Is this more common than I apparently realize?

I think it is more common than you'd think.  I think they assume when you see a rush by #4, you'd realize it was the QB and not the CB.

Messenger box score has Boykin with 11 carries, Tettleton with 7, Omar Leftwich with 2, Bates and Brazill 1 each.

They've also had Roback with some tackles the past few weeks even though he hasn't suited up. Those tackles were made by Josh Kristoff.

I have a #7 jersey from a surplus sale years ago (Stafford Owens). I am hoping my name will show up being credited for a one-handed touchdown catch.

BTW:  Beau may not be the next Chad Brinker or Kalvin McCrae, but he seems like he is a great kid on and off the field and I am glad he is a Bobcat.

I think Beau will be a great asset to the team as the season progresses. Great acceleration and quickness. Obviously we have Dallas Brown, Hammonds and Fulcher in the wings. If the staff has no confidence why aren't they moving him down the depth chart?
I think you will be proven wrong over the rest of the season.

But that's exactly what the coaching staff has done since NMSU.  In that game, he split time with Harden, with Boykin getting mop-up duty.  At Rutgers, Boykin got the start and Beau got zero carries.  Couldn't be more clear.

Unless you read all the stats (including passes caught, # and % of plays on the field) and consider the game situation (playing catch up so the emph was on passing).

Didn't you trash Travis Carrie (another guy who was just a Sophomore) last year too? Hows that workin' out?

Never wrote a word about Tavis Carrie. Nice try, though.
