If you think that chant bothers all of us you are mistaken.

Some of us started out at Ohio University branch campuses with the OU in front of the town name......didn't bother us then....doesn't bother me now.

Doc, it does bother the dyslexic folks at the University of Oklahoma who have asked us to stop using that abbreviation.

Yeah..... easy to confuse the two....not....back in the 60's in southeastern ahia when you told people you went to OU I'm sure they all said....oh....you're a Sooner?

my 2 cents- OU is fine when used in casual conversation, regionally. You mention OU to someone in AShland KY and they'll know who you're talking about. However, it doesn't work too well when you get east of the Mississippi.

BUT, OU should not be used nationally in print or broadcast. Why? because it causes confusion (thank you dyslexic University of Oklahoma fans) and encourages people not familiar with OU to think it stands for Ohio U. And Ohio U should never be used under any circumstance. ever. its simply Ohio, or even better- OHIO.

OU? Oh Yeah!!
