A little perspective for Ohio's win last night:

Last time Ohio scored 40 points and won by 20: 9/27/2008 vs. VMI (51-31)

Last time Ohio scored 40 points and won by 20 against FBS opponent: 10/21/2006 vs. Buffalo (42-7)

Last time Ohio scored 40 points and won by 20 on the road: 10/19/2002 @ Kent St. (50-0)

Last time Ohio opened up the season with 44 or more points: 8/29/2006 vs. Akron (44-14)

Last time Ohio scored at least 40 points in their first road game: 9/10/1977 @ Marshall (49-27)

It was also a pretty good week for the MAC.  In the first week of the season, the only losses in the conference came to BCS schools, no embarrassing losses (as long as EMU doesn't stink it up against Howard today).  As a whole, the conference teams outscored their opponents 313-296.  That included wins over Indiana, Army, New Mexico St, and Idaho.  The only losses in the conference were to Ohio State, Michigan, Pitt, Alabama, and Missouri (all teams receiving multiple votes int he AP Top 25).

Plus there were even good showings for the MAC in some of the losses to AQ teams.  Buffalo was down by only 5 to Pitt with about 12 minutes in to go in the 4th Q.  And Fiami had a close loss at Mizzou.

This week could be interesting.  Toledo should give O$U all they can handle (I've been telling folks that UT can win that one); NIU has a real shot at Kansas; and CMU might take Kentucky.  On the other hand, Buffalo has to watch out for Stony Brook; the Stonies almost won at UTEP last night.  We'll also see if BSU is for real at South Florida.

We will get by.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will survive.

Count me as crazy as you on that hunch!

Agreed, UT could pull off the upset.  Not only are they a very good football team, the O$U players are likely to be in the mind set (regardless of what the coaches tell them) that this will be another Akron-type game.  "Hey, they're just another MAC team . . ."  When you put the suspensions, the new coach and the probable player mind-set all into the equation you have all the ingredients in place for a possible upset.

They may cause me to attend the game by myself.....my sons and other relatives are all BIG OSU fans and they said it's OK to leave for Athens at halftime since the score will be in the Buckeyes favor by a big margin.....uhhhhhhh....OK...whatever.

They probably said that same thing before they played OHIO three years ago.  They've probably forgotten we lead them going into the 4th Quarter.  Such is the mental condition of most bandwagon A&M fans.

I'll always be proud of our effort that day in 08, but it's ancient history. We had a chance last year to prove it was no fluke and we puked all over ourselves. I'll always be disgusted with our performance that day in '10.
