I am keeping a very close watch on the TAMU - SEC drama and was wondering if any ripple effect could cause the Mountain West and the WAC to merge.
It seems that if the Big 12 recruits any MWC or C-USA schools to join, combine that with the SEC adding another team to balance the conference, then definitely the Big East and/or the ACC will be looking at C-USA to fill in the gap.

If the MWC and WAC were to merge ( I doubt it will happen but have heard it tossed around) and if C-USA loses a team or two would there be any scenario that would trickle down to the MAC?
What about a MAC-/C-USA merger?
Where does the Sunbelt fit in to the big picture as I have heard that if the Big 12 takes on SMU or Houston then North Texas will be invited to C-USA.
What a mess, I wish everyone would stay put!

Hanging in there!

Change is a natural part of life, or at least that's what my doctor keeps telling me.

Seems to me that the Big Twel is rapidly heading back to its Big 6 roots, just with Texas in the mix.  Wetzel on Rivals.com suggests that TCU should renege on its Big Least deal and join the Big Twel.  Does make sense.  If Okla goes to the SEC, though, that could be the death of the Big Twel.  In which case, Texas might just go independent (they have their own network) and the remaining schools might look for some appropriate replacements.  BYU would probably lead the list, with maybe Houston (nice TV market), Memphis and Tulsa some other possibles.  CUSA might then go for schools like App St. (if they go 1A), Florida Atlantic (Miami market) and maybe Temps.  I don't see North Tex moving up; they barely tread water in the Sun Belt.  A MAC/CUSA merger doesn't make sense, either.  Too many teams, too geographically diverse, just too unwieldy.
