NCAA gonna get Kirby Joke-Cutt?

I knew it.

Not named in the story, but as AD from '08 - '10, this falls squarely within his tenure.

Kirby either turned a blind eye or didn't have the balls or ability to fix the problems

I knew it from MINUTE ONE of his tenure at Ohio. I'll expect a slew of messages saying "Thank you LOVE, you tried to expose this clown on multiple occasions, but we didn't listen." The guy was an absolute fraud. Completely out of his league at a MAC school and his proficiency (or complete lack thereof) as an Athletic Director is proven by this article.

If Texas Tech has an ounce of integrity, they fire this Joker immediately for being complicit (in some way, shape, or form) in the Miami scandal. He leaves a trail of despair at ever stop, so Lubbock should know whats in store for them.

Let's face it, there are 3 options as to Hocutt's role in the scandal:

A. Had no idea this was going on, making him a passive employee with no control over his programs.
B. Knew this was going on, but turned a blind eye. Maybe the worst of the transgressions.
C. Knew this was going on, attempted to fix it, couldn't, and gave up. The best of the transgressions, but as far as we know, he didn't alert the proper chain of command (see Tressel) about the happenings

My gut tells me it was B. Just my opinion. Based on my limited exposure to him, I just didn't see a lot of depth, integrity, or skill in the man. Certainly not enough to try and control THE U, so if you can't beat em, join em.

As much as it pains me to say it, I essentially agree with BL's post. Also, let the record show that I was NEVER a big fan of Kirby during his tenure at Ohio.

WHat a read that was! Sad that this man was financing all this with money that was essentially stolen from clients, tal about insult to injury. And I really enjoyed the part about a lot of this happened on the watch of Dees who was the guy admonishing USC.....Pot meet kettle.

Quite a read earlier. I've been known to say I don't think the NCAA will ever hit anybody with the SMU stick again, but after reading those 7,000+ words on Yahoo!, I'm suddenly far less certain.

I am pretty much with Monroe on this as this is no surprise.

Having seen every Big 10/11/12 team and every ACC team in action, I can tell you that Miami of Florida fans rank right up there with West Virginia fans. Despite all of the problems Florida State has had off the field, I have always found their fans who travel to be very nice.

On a positive note, about the nicest opposing fan was the guy from Wyoming who posted with us and came by to introduce himself at the tailgate.

As far as Golden, he was on the short list for the UVA job as he was the defensive coordinator there under Groh. Quite a contrast between UVA the wine & brie school (wife's alma mater) and the U!

You guys hate it, but the LOVE is going to gloat about this for a long time to come.

I called it 100% on Hocutt.

* P-card scandal
* Botching of the dissolution of 4 sports
* Made ONE real personnel decision that I can ascertain
* Failed launch of the OBC points/giving program requiring multiple revisions since his departure

The guy was one laughable mistake after another. Now he has a track record of lasting only 2-3 years in a position and leaving a trail of tears. Poor Texas Tech. Plus they have to wait to find out what kind of sanctions he will garner through the whole Miami mess.

Slightly more ironic than Gene Smith being considered for a similar NCAA post. The only difference between the U and A&M is the source. If Talbott would sing like this guy is, they'd be looking at the same level of allegations that are coming to Miami.

As realignment sets in, they will now have a disgraced AD connected to the biggest Intercollegiate athletics scandal since SMU.

It's a good thing they don't need a quality image in hopes of courting another conference when the Big 12 folds.

I will never draw a comparison between Goldens' letterman's jackets and sideline shirts and ties and another coach's sweatervests and wire rimmed glasses. I think if he were my coach, I'd be eating his schtick like an Iowa corn dog.

If Miami still plays football when this is said and done, getting Temple to the Eagle Bank Bowl will be a grade school talent show compared to what he's going to have to accomplish.

SI and ESPN provided a single anonymous source and they have been digging in and around Columbus for months.

When your credentials for employment are that you played LB at Kansas State....pretty good chance you have no place around the business end of an Athletic Department. Absolutely terrible hire on our part. Still paying the price.

Or, as at OSU, the U will circle the wagons and find one guy to take the fall. Better from a compliance level if it is not a suit. No question he knew as did the president. They always do.

Maybe so (and I have no idea how), but you can kiss that goodbye after yesterday's developments.

Anyone connected with Miami during this era will be damaged goods in the industry.
