Wonder how bad the press would be if we took a $1.8 million dollar hit like UConn just did for their Feista Bowl appearance?

If they get 3.8M from the conference didn't they make 2M?

That was my initial reaction too Terry then I reread that paragraph.

The Post also reports that UConn will receive $3.8 million from the Big East later this year as "each football-playing school in the league will receive that amount as its cut from bowl and television revenue."

My take on that is that is their share of all the bowl revenue and all of the tv revenue for the entire conference. Tough to get a true net as to how much of that 3.8 is their share of the Fiesta Bowl payout.

Uconn didn't lose a dime. Just like I won't lose money on my next vacation. It simply decided to spend money going to a bowl game.

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....

Yeah, not to mention the fact that it's not like they have this $1.8M expense every year. Part of the cost of doing business to get that $3.8 annual payout. But don't let the facts get into the way of a good headline. Heck, Florida "lost" $1M one of the years it won a National Championship.

The 1.8 million is the loss, not their expenses. Per the article they had to fork over $2.9 million just to cover their unsold allotment of tickets. Throw in travel costs and they were well over the $3.8 million they got from their conference's share.

The $1.8M is their loss on the Bowl game. They had expenses of $4.3M and were given $2.5M from the conference for appearing in the game. So they lost $1.8M on the game. But they still get $3.8M payment which is their share of revenues from Big East Bowl games and TV.

Scary dilema for the MAC. You wonder If Ohio were 13-0 and ranked in top 10. Yes it would be a big hit on a financial side, but having one magical season in 100 years of football would be worth it. You could always schedule money bag games and just take the cash for a few years. For the MAC it would be an historic event. UConn football atleast got there. 10 years ago they were 1-AA and like Boise St they reached a BCS bowl.

OU needs to beef up the schedule in order to do what Boise and TCU have done. Which means more Bix 6 schools. They don't need to have three on the schedule like Fiami, BSU and WMU are doing. Beating three is asking too much; it's a good way to wind up 6-6 at best. But having two with one or two decent non-AQs makes 13-0 or even 12-1 a lot more attractive in the BCS standings. Going 13-0 against next year's soft schedule might not even get the Cats in the Top 25.
