Can't beat the Bobcats so he tried to beat a woman.  Way to stay classy, Mike.

This coach will self-destruct in ten seconds.  Seriously, you gotta feel for him and any assistants he might have taken with him.  I'm not defending him, but the fact that he "grabbed her by the arm and neck and pushed her" doesn't sound that serious; probably just escalated because of the other issues they've had.  Domestic issues aren't always as cut and dried as they seem; there's usually plenty of fault to go around.  But in this day and age, it usually means the one getting arrested gets the ax or a short leash that sets them up for failure.

Miami now has now sent two quality guys to the city of Pittsburgh.  Maybe Big Ben can refer his Allegheny County attorney to Haywood.

Baby Mama drama. classic. I'm guessing she mentioned something about his new gig = more child support $$$ and he wasn't having it.

the Big Ben/ Haywood/Miami/Pittsburg correlation is quite humorous.

Frank's favorite AD, Stevie, I hired Bill Callahan, not Harry, is in some deep, deep dodo with the PITT higher ups with his latest stumbling, bumpling hire of Haywood. There may be a 2fer going down at PITT by the end of the weekend with Peterson and Haywood sent packing. I don't think it's a real Happy New Year for the Panthers, to say the least.

A side benefit if your 2fer happens is we might be able to schedule Pitt again.  Under the current regime that would be impossible.

And what happens if he is found innocent?

The charges were increased today from misdemeanor to felony. From a detached distance, that fact alone speaks loudly. Very loudly.

I think due process lost out to a city that's reached a zero tolerance threshold.

Good question.  There seems to be no presumption of innocence in cases like this.  I understand that Pitt is not a court of law, but if he's found innocent I would think he'd have a pretty good civil suit against Pitt.  Flomo or one of our online lawyers could probably answer this better than I.

He may get some $ from Pitt in some sort of settlement.  But, Pitt has to fire him.  The dude just lost out on millions.  And so did his kid and his kid's mom.  Amazing.

Maybe he lied about the kid out of wedlock when interviewing and he fails some kind of morality clause in the contract.  Who knows right now?

According to the article I read the charges were increased because of the presence of a minor. Things will work themselves out, wishing the best.

And unfortunately it'll make him unhireable for probably a year or more.  What a waste.

Ohio69... I'll hope that you're not suggesting that a woman should have let a man assault her because of his earning potential...

And regardless of how this turns out, there's a list as long as my arm of people working in the football business that had careers left for dead after horrible personal decisions.

I hope people don't think that's what I meant.  I didn't.  Probably just should of said this dude just destroyed a huge opportunity for his family.

This case may never even go to trial.  Something like two-thirds of domestic dispute cases are dropped because the complaining party has second thoughts and either drops the charges or refuses to testify.  But it likely doesn't matter when it comes to his Pitt contract.  The fact that the incident occurred and he was arrested was probably enough to trigger the "detrimental conduct" clause.

Thanks for the info, Pataskala.  I guess from your stats it's most likely that it'll be settled out of court or be dropped before trial.

However, if it did go to trial and he was found innocent would he have a case against Pitt for wrongful termination?  Or, would the contractual language likely be the trump card?
