I know this is out of the MAC, but with the whipping Michigan just took, he might be gone.  But all these new YOUNG coaches coming in, OUr Frank is one of the oldest coaches in the college ranks.  Now that the Fridge is gone from Maryland can we get him as offensive coordinator!  He and Frank would make an awsome team.

If you mean because they're successful, my guess would be Tim Beckman from Toledo after next year and maybe Bill Cubit at WMU by the year after.  If you mean because of shortcomings, Ron English at EMU maybe after next year (2-22 puts you on the bubble, even at EMU) and then probably not anybody for two or three years because of all the turnover after the '09 and '10 seasons.

The money that these coaches are now making is the cause for all these coaching changes. Schools have expectations that when not met cause the changes to occur. It's as simple as that. This is the same thing that has been occurring in the professional ranks.

If you're successful in the MAC you move up because of the higher salaries elsewhere. The MAC seems to lose 1-2 per year because of poor results and 2-3 per year because of winning, but I haven't really looked at it closely.

Cubit always seems on the fence between being fired and moving up, I can't figure him out.  The guy at Central-can't remember his name- may be on thin ice if he has another bad year or two.

You aren't the only one interested in that, and might find this a rather interesting read: http://www.hustlebelt.com/2010/12/13/1872594/every-mac-fo...

With an asterisk, since it didn't have anything to do with his on-field results.

Turner Gill may be another story, however.  After this past season, he might have to go undefeated next season just to save his job.

Thanks for the infputs. I love to hear it in general. I hope Solich really pull off something solid in his hand and have a microphone chance in a big dance. Younger coaches are pulling things off. We are 200 years old but bowl-less.This spell need to be broken!

My guess would be Jeff Quinn of Buffalo is on the hottest MAC seat. Turner Gill did an outstanding job at Buffalo finally making them into a program and that has set the bar unrealistically high for Jeff Quinn still riding the coattails of Gill talent/coaching. He's not going to get a full 5 years like a coach typically will at EMU. Cubit I think is treading water at Western Michigan but I guess he's done enough there hang for 10 years like his predecessor Gary Darnell. BG was a mess this season but its a program that has a history of getting back on its feet quickly so I'm not sure there.

I can tell by the names entering and leaving the league that the MAC is moving up in respect. It used to be that if a MAC coach were to move on it would be after 6-7 years to an MWC team or low level BCS like Terry Hoppenner to Indiana or Jim Grobe to Wake Forest. This year it was Golden to Miami FL, Haywood to Pitt, Kill to Minnesota (a program on the rise with a new stadium). Last year Gill got the Kansas job after a 5-7 season. MAC schools are hiring big time OC's and DC's like second tier BCS programs these days. Another trend of interest in the MAC is football budgets, there is really starting to become some seperation between Temple, Ohio, Northern Ill and the bottom level MAC programs. As badly as Ohio ended the season it would be hard to forsee the Bobcats falling back to the bottom of the conference. The team has won 9, 6, 4, 9 and 8 games the last 5 years an off year is going to be 4-8 and 8 to 9 wins more the norm.

I would agree that Quinn has to be on the hot seat, but Ianello at Akron is probably on an even hotter one, considering the record setting season the overshoes just had. English at EMU and Enos at CMU may be getting a little warm, but probably aren't all that hot yet. I don't see anyone else moving up, just yet. Probably the only one with a shot would be Beckman at Toledo, but he probably needs another good season to be considered. Of course, I'd have said the same thing about Haywood, so you never know.
