Anyone else planning on making the road trip to Muncie this weekend? Never thought this would be a critical game at beginning of season but looks to be of utmost importance now. We'll head over that way, spend some time at Harrah's, go to the game then head back home. Love to see a good Bobcat contingent at the game.

Yes + 2. Thought we would take in the last Saturday football game of the season that means anything to us. Hoping the foliage is splendid!

In-laws used to have a cottage in a lake community in Eastern Indiana. Fall foilage is splendid there if you hit on the right weeks.

Don't know whether it's true or not, but I once read that there are more buckeye trees in Indiana than Ohio. ;-)

Like how there are more peaces produced in South Carolina most seasons than Georgia? :)

According to this map you'll be right on the cusp.

Thanks for the map Alan. Looks promising. I think sun is expected too on Saturday the last time I looked. Hopefully that’s still the case. We’re starting to see some good color here and there now in my area of southern Ohio.

I knew when I mentioned Tuesday that sunshine was expected for Saturday it would be downhill on the forecast from there. It was. Should have kept my mouth (iPad) shut. ; )

By the way your mention of packing your Frogg Toggs for Saturday in the game thread brought me a bit of a chuckle. We had just bought some of their rain suits the day before your post, largely because of the experience below.

As many know, the weather was cold and wet at the Western game last year and my wife and I took ponchos. While mine held up through almost the entire first half, from my past experiences with them, I knew it was just a matter of time before the poncho and me didn’t get along. True to form, it ripped at the neck and back late in the half and I spent the next 45 minutes trying to get some use out of it while the rain pelted down and the temperatures dropped. That did not work out very well. We ended up leaving about half way through the third quarter and watched the rest of the game from our hotel room. So, I am throwing in my support too for being well equipped.

Related to this incident was a very positive experience we had leaving the stadium. Again, I felt miserable in my cold, wet clothes. My wife wasn’t that comfortable either. A young person, likely a student, drove up to us behind the pressbox, seemingly out of nowhere and offered to shuttle us to our car in her covered, multi-person golf cart. Our car was up the hill and probably 3/4 of a mile away. We had been dreading the thought of the walk.

It was clear from our gear we were Bobcats fans and, of course, we were badly beating their team (although she may not have known or cared), and, I suspect the shuttle was for WMU donors although I don’t know if that is fact or not. I do know that her act was very welcomed and appreciated. She was truly an ambassador for the university in our eyes. A young man, apparently without parking responsibilities, was also very helpful to us before the game. A very pleasant experience at Western except for the weather. Hopefully we will similarly enjoy Ball State tomorrow (only in more comfort in our case ; )

It was free in our case but that may have been due to the circumstances. Hope my response enables me to maintain my neutrality related to that discussion! ; )
