I'm less than thrilled about the Rhode Island game kicking at 2pm.

Conversely, I'm quite thrilled about Homecoming being 3:30pm.

Don't be too prematurely thrilled about that 3:30. TV is tbd.

True. CBSSN, ESPN+, or ESPN8, or FacbookTV could move the kickoff time. I would hope Ohio and the MAC do things to make that kick time a firm time for Homecoming.

Two questions remain for me: what exactly is Touchdown for Teachers, Oct. 19 v. Kent? and how does one access games on Facebook if one doesn't not have a Facebook account?

I don't want to be a downer, but how bad is it going to look if we have a game that proclaims itself to be the MAC's first-ever mid-week sell-out and it doesn't happen?

I get a bad feeling we're going to be the butt of some jokes on websites and radio shows.

Or do they have a contingency plan where they give away 5,000 seats to schoolchildren to make sure this happens?

Otherwise, looks really good. For the first time in three years, I'm not working until the middle of the night into Saturday, so looking forward to getting to six games this year. I'm pumped.

I'm not sure where you're coming from here. We're not proclaiming it to be anything. we're just promoting that as a goal.

Can't say I'm a big fan of that 3:30 Homecoming start. If I'm an uptown food and beveage establishment, that is fantastic. Parade done at 11:20 and 4 hours before game time. The traditionalists won't care for the big gap though. With that much time between events, the Green and White Club would have served upwards of 1500 people. I'm not sure the Kerr delivery truck would have carried that much beer.

This has got to be lower than being on Buckeye Cable. Couldn't they at least get Google?

I'm fairly sure that you can't. But, you can set up an account, max your privacy settings, and just use it for game watching.

I watched a couple hoops games on FB last year. Quality was solid, and at least equal to ESPN3/+ in my opinion.

Actually, I would contend it's better - Facebook is a global audience. Buckeye Cable obviously is much more limited.

Wouldn't you think it is possible they will move the entire day's events back by a bit too?

I have several reasons I like it. First, coming from Cbus, I don't have to leave a O'dark thirty to get to Athens to set up my tailgate and see the parade. Second, having a larger gap between things will allow all the people I know who are 110 Alumni time to actually relax between parade marching and game time. Third, I'm just happy to see a schedule where Ohio isn't married to a 2pm start time for every game.

But ABSOLUTELY NOBODY watches Facebook TV, which I presume is Facebook Watch. I seriously doubt that's available in ANY sports bar in the world.

3:30 pm start for HC equals a near total walk out after half time.

Tailgates last longer.

It will be a smaller alumni 110 on the field for the halftime show as many will simply go uptown after the parade/practice and not have the desire to walk back to the field once the cold ones start having an effect. The post-game show will have few fans remaining with dinner hunger calling.

3:30 makes for a loooonng day.

Has anyone else notice how DFC has become the Ohio athletic department's biggest advocate the past year or so? Who would have thunk it?

I noticed that too. No one was whining - we/they were just pointing out the obvious truth. In this day and age fewer and fewer people are willing to devote 10 hours to an athletic event.

Seriously, what time of day will satisfy everyone? If it's a night game, people complain (I think night games are awesome, and cooler). I'm sorry It's just amazing that we get an announcement for a mid-late afternoon October Saturday and the first thing out of everyone's mouth is how that just doesn't work for everyone. We have plenty of time to enjoy the non-athletic homecoming festivities, plus time to tailgate, plus what should be a competitive and important game in the conference.

If you want a kickoff time that sucks, and royally so, it's the Pitt game.

The parade is too damn early!

Just shift everything an hour later (they will) and all will be fine, there won't be more tailgating, the game will be great, the band (with alums jamming) will be awesome, and the day will be much more convenient.

Can't wait to be there!

Does any sports bar in the world get ESPN3?

Nope.

It's the streaming world. The majority of sports bars are on DirecTV, mainly because that's the only way they'd be able to show NFL games because of the Sunday Ticket package. Until the NFL/DirecTV dissolve their relationship (which seems inevitable) then the monopoly of sports bars being tied to DirecTV will continue.

Until that dissolution, you have sports bars that are tied to whatever is available on the Sports Pack on DirecTV.

And as of now, any streaming option isn't going to be available in a sports bar.

So no BookFace TV or ESPN3 unless you're in the comfort of your home and are able to stream.

Unless you're able to find the white whale ... which is sports bar that A) cares enough to figure out how to stream on their big TVs and then B) one that is smart enough to do so.

If you find that ... please share!

It's hard enough trying to find sports bar where their waitress/bartender doesn't just turn on ESPN and say "we're a sports bar, so we show ESPN" even if they are showing bowling or drone racing.

Active content management ... it's a lost art among sports bars. But that's a totally separate thread that could last for days.

Back to the running topic at hand ... I LOVE the 330pm kick for homecoming or any other game. (Although, I think a night game on a Saturday would be AWESOME)

As a fellow Cbus'r up in Dublin ... it's a struggle getting to Athens in time for a 2pm kickoff especially if you want to get into TailGreat park for Homecoming. As OUCountry pointed out ... leaving at 530am isn't fun.

I admittedly shelled out the $400 for the reserved spot in TailGreat this year, so that will make it a little better.

But I like having some extra time to tailgate. Grill out breakfast AND lunch! A few more cold ones before wandering into Peden. What's not to love!

Ever since they (unwisely in my opinion) eliminated re-entry for the post game show, they've had smaller crowds.

Because I love thread drift....

This is something that is an art, while also not being all that complicated. The number of sports bars in the Columbus area that are able to pull it off is very, very small in number. And it DRIVES ME CRAZY when I go somewhere and they have 90% of their screens on the same game despite the fact that there are 15 sporting events on at the time. It's an incredible waste of screens and monthly DirecTV costs.

I love 3:30pm as well, though I see the point about empty stands in favor of Court Street. While I don't find it to be a struggle to get into a lot for a 2pm game, I really don't like leaving at 6-7am to get there in time to get set up for tailgating. And as Alan pointed out, committing 10 hours is tough anymore. My solution in general has become to leave early, because more than half of those I'm with these days aren't interested in sitting on metal bleachers for nearly 4 hours.

For the sake of seeing the post game show, I really, really, really wish they'd allow re-entry, or heck maybe even free entry into the stadium when the game is over to see the band for 15 minutes. Especially on Homecoming.
