The Browns just traded Duke Johnson. I wonder how that will affect A.J.'s chances to make the team. I have to think it improves them.

Just saw and thought the same thing. Couldn't hurt, right?

BTW, the Browns are at home vs Wash tonight at 7:30. Locally, it's on Channel 10.

Helps a lot. I'm surprised the Browns traded Duke because they've been saying for months he wasn't going anywhere. Obviously a conditional 3rd-rounder was the price.

This tells me a couple of things. Chubb is going to be on the field 80% of time. They like Hilliard as a back-up. The 3rd RB has to be able to play special teams. While I expect AJ to get carries tonight, I'm just as interested to see if he's on the field with the special teams. If he is, that bumps up his chances.

I still think he's a long shot for the opening day roster but his chances are better now than they were yesterday.

Pulling hard for AJ. My daughter just graduated from UGA and following Nick’s recovery from a horrible knee injury has been inspiring. Not sure you could have two better leaders in a Running Back room.

One of Cleveland's tv stations just asked on FB what everyone thought of the trade. My comment was:

" I'm all for it if it gives A.J. Ouelette a better chance of making the team. Most of you probably know nothing about him, but I've watched him for four years at OHIO, and he's worth keeping."

The Browns are already seeking out trades and looking at available free agent running backs to bring into camp. It is going to continue to be a difficult uphill battle for him. Probably only a few more days or week to make an impression.

He did ok tonight. I think he had six yds on three carries. He had two four-yd runs, including a conversion on 3rd and 4. He lost two yds when a defender blew up a lineman and was there for the handoff. They had him run a lot of pass routes. He also was on the punt return team for at least one play and I think he was on a kick return.

He looked teeny out there but ran hard. I could see him as a star in the upcoming XFL.

I thought exactly the same thing; how small he looked next to the other players.

He got a fist pump from his running back coach Stump Mitchell when he came off the field. Stump and AJ are about the same size.

Isn’t AJ about the same size as Edelman?

Seriously AJ could be one of the faces of an XFL Organization his story line and look would bring in fans.

I love A.J.'s passion and work ethic but I just don't see him sticking with an NFL team. Hope I'm wrong.

He's got to stand out a lot among several other similar guys, and I'm not sure he's really going to get a big enough chance to do that. I hope I'm wrong. He's proven people wrong a lot.

reminds me of Rex Burkhead.

I wasn't aware Browns were AJ's 4th nfl team, already. that's not the best sign but it only takes one team to bite.

Well, according to the speculation in this article, the Browns may have heard good things from the Saints that made them choose Ouelette. So the shifting around of teams might have helped him in the end to get a chance with the Browns however slim of chance that may be.

If he ends up making the roster, I am going to have to start following the Browns' season that much is for sure.

Looks like TJ will be the lone Bobcat in the NFL this season.

Basham may very well stick with the Jets this year.

Saw in the PD that he's being held out of practice because of a hamstring injury.

Yes Basham is in the rotation and looks much better coming off the ball.

I was also thinking this could be his breakout year if he gets the snaps.
