First, I came to OU from Rhode Island as an 18 year old whipper snapper. Second, the first college football game I ever went to, my grandfather took me to see URI play Richmond. URI lost that day, but I had a great time. My grandfather passed in March (100 years old & WWII Army veteran) and the old URI football coach came to his calling hours. Rhode Island Chowder is similar to New England, except its clam juice and broth instead of cream. I figure on a hot day with everyone enjoying adult beverages, heavy cream is a good thing to avoid.
