This game has a lot of special meaning for me. First, I came to OU from Rhode Island as an 18 year old whipper snapper. Second, the first college football game I ever went to, my grandfather took me to see URI play Richmond. URI lost that day, but I had a great time. My grandfather passed in March (100 years old & WWII Army veteran) and the old URI football coach came to his calling hours.

So in honor of it all, we will be tailgating with a complete menu from the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations:

Fried Clams
Party Pizza (RI style pizza)
Rhode Island Clam Chowder (it's different from NE Clam Chowder)
NY System Hot Dogs (RI's style of dog)
Dunkin Donuts (RIish company)
Narragansett Beer
Del's Frozen Lemonade

Great story from quite the infrequent poster!

Sounds like an awesome spread!

Willing to share what RI style pizza is? Not familiar with it. Same with the chowder?

This sounds like a wonderful tailgate. The folks in Mass might take issue with you calling Dunkin an RI company ;)

Bobcatblitz. I used to post a lot - before the latest iteration of this site. In fact, I go all the way back to the old T-Com board. Just in recent years become more of a reader than a poster. But season tix since 1995.

I'm making the chowder. Rhode Island Chowder is similar to New England, except its clam juice and broth instead of cream. I figure on a hot day with everyone enjoying adult beverages, heavy cream is a good thing to avoid.

You got me there. There was a time when it was HQ'd in RI. So, I'm being fast and loose with that one. haha

Party pizza is basically this:

Cut into strips. A great tailgating food actually.

There will also be some Champ Henson Sweet Corn from Ashville. He doesn’t send that to OSU games. Trade blockade.
