I don't really mean it. He's done well enough over the past 2 seasons that he gets a pass on this one. He may need a better plan B if Rourke is not a running threat. I also think Tuggle should've had more touches.
I figure someone should kick this thread off for old time sakes!

If an unproven running back touches the football seven times against Rhode Island and winds up in the end zone on three of them (counting a long run called back due to a penalty); and he averaged nearly 17 yards per carry, shouldn't the OBVIOUS move to the coaching staff be to get De'Montre Tuggle in the game early to see if he's for real? Hoping that he's for real? He scored again on his second touch at Pitt.

If the main concern about this team is not giving enough touches to the back up running back, then the glaring deficiencies on this team are being overlooked.

Exactly. This team isn't going to blow people away at the line of scrimmage like last year. Teams are going to make Rourke throw more. Ohio will have to do it better than it did today, which I think it the future, there's a much better chance of that.

While I agree the OL better find a way to better protect Nathan, I thought the same thing about Tuggle the whole game - get him the ball more.

Sometimes the average Bobcat fan doesn't realize that certain players do not pass protect well and maybe that is why they don't play every down. I doubt every Bobcat fan attends all the practices and watches all the game film. Most of us on this website want the same thing as the coaching staff and that is to achieve a victory every week.

Bingo, roll up coverage, sit on short routes, take the QB away and force a RB to beat you. It’s about the Bobs and Joes not the X’s and O’s

Tuggle can definitely carry the ball, but he hasn't impressed me with his blocking. On one sack, Tuggle completely missed his man.

I'm thinking the inexperienced running backs missing blocks was a major reason for more than one, maybe most of the sacks. Missing A.J.

Happy with Albin.
Wasn’t able to watch live and not anxious to go rewatch the game so don’t feel qualified to pass criticism. I will say that overall I think we need to get Tuggle touches. Even if his blocking is an issue, for a team in need of playmakers sometimes you play a guy who isn’t perfectly well rounded for gamechanging ability he has.
Also did I hear we finished the game with 3 to’s? Game was close enough that we should’ve used those at some point to lengthen the game/stop clock. Not like game was out of reach entirely. Have had similar clock management concerns with this staff in past. Seem to not take any chances when we’re down... just keep playing conservative
I've seen crazier things happen.

My only tiny complaint was maybe to take a few more shots deep after Rourke connected on that gorgeous deep ball, but with protection issues, young RB's who were whiffing on blocks and Rourke not being 100 percent, I can see why they wouldn't want to do that too many more times. At some point you had to start protecting the rest of the season instead of winning one game. It's a frustrating game, because it was so winnable if he was healthy, but given the circumstances, I don't think a two-score loss is embarrassing or anything.
Pitt will struggle, but they do have some dynamic receivers. I just don't think Pickett will be very good against Power 5 defenses. The receiving corps is fun.

Found the following in the Ohio vs Marshall Game Notes. Interesting.

Team Albin over here. You take Albin away and you take all our success on offense. I'll gladly take Albin over Gregory. Wishbone offense will have you #1 in the country in rushing but not a winning record.

I realize many Bobcat fans won't agree with every call or decision that the head coach or coordinators make, but this football program is in much better shape with them. Maybe some Ohio fans easily forget what used to be? Now let the bashing begin.

+1, I’d actullay take the chimp the Russians put int space over Gregory. However I disagree on the wishbone, or the flex bone, army, Navy, Air Force, and a host of other schools have proven in an effective offense given the commitment to the scheme and proper personnel

A.J. at the level he was for his senior season at least. He was toughing out 2 extra yards on every play which makes a huge difference on the will of the opposition. With A.J. last week the Bobcats likely win.
Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended 2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round 2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl 2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

Or Hugh Green, Dan Marino, Mike Ditka, Bill Fralic, Mark May, Larry Fitzgerald, Craig Heyward or Joe Schmidt. Pitt has fielded some of the all-time greats. Respect.

One topic that has not been mentioned here is the interesting tidbit shared following halftime during Saturday's Pitt telecast. One of the announcers mentioned that he had asked Albin whether Ohio was essentially shutting down its normal offensive scheme due to Rourke's status. Albin apparently hesitated and then said "No comment." That could be inferred as he had been ordered by Frank to scale it back.

Seems Ohio won the 2nd half, 7-3. Ohio 3rd qtr passing 5 for 6. 4th qtr passing 0 for 4. Seems Solich/Albin played this as we have seen before. Seems 4th qtr execution was not there. Credit to Pitt.

We simply failed to flip the field in the 2nd half, and it wasn't for the lack of taking chances.
Anyone complaining about our D giving up a lot of yards when they only gave up 20 POINTS on the road to a p5 school in a game where our offense did so little and failed to hold the ball for any significant stretch is not thinking very clearly about this game. Yes, our pass D will be tested, but Pitt had some stud receivers and they made plays. Also, we played excellent red zone defense. The offense was a big thud, unfortunately and I think there were many reasons. Frankly, I thought we didn't try to punish Pitt between the tackles more. I thought yards were there and the overall stats were tarnished by so many sacks. Did Rourke run less because of illness, or were his scrambles and the option game limited by how well pitt was defending it? They seemed ready anytime we tried to venture to the edge and that was playing to their strength.
