Saw an interesting poll on Twitter yesterday from @OhioBobcats promoting a voting contest to determine fans' favorite Ohio Football player.

There were 16 names on the list, with all but two players only from the Frank Solich era:

Tyler Tettleton
Kalvin McRae
AJ Ouellette
Beau Blankenship
LaVon Brazil
Donte Foster
Papi White
Jordan Thompson
Tarell Basham
Eric Herman
Mike Mitchell
Quentin Poling
TJ Carrie
Dave Zastudil*
Dion Byrum
Kareem Wilson*

Dave and Kareem are the only two that were not any part of the Solich era. Granted there are players on this list that were not recruited intially by Frank.

I know that everything from the 70s to Jim Grobe was unremarkable for Ohio Football but you'd think there'd be at least a couple players?

Makes me wonder if the list was slanted more to an audience that the department thinks is most likely on social media?

Anyways, who else does everyone think is missing?

More than any other sport, it's hard to compare football players across generations, because the size and speed is crazy now.

I would submit Chad Brinker as belonging on this list, not just due to on-field performance, but missing a year due to brain surgery, then coming back and playing football.

Other standouts:
* Vince Costello - LB,long career with the Browns
* Ron Stepsis - OL, 2-time all-MAC
* Benny King - LB, a leader in career tackles
* Skip Hoovler - LB, 3-time all-MAC and all-American
* Tim Curtis - RB, among Ohio career rushing leaders - accomplished on some bad teams.
* Cleve Bryant - led Ohio to two MAC titles
* Steveland Hookfin - a career leader in rush yards and YPC.

I don't tweet. If anyone who does tweet sees merit in nominating any of the above Bobcats, please do so.

Agree with above nominations of Todd Snyder and Chad Brinker.

Totally agree! How do you leave off Hookfin and Brinker!?!? While I totally respect what Jordan Thompson did and getting to the NFL ... I think Hookfin and Brinker were more productive on-the-field during their Ohio days.

Agreed Todd should be on the list, as should Cleve Bryant, unless there's a morals clause. Of those on the initial list I'd have to go with Dion Byrum. His OT interception in the Pitt game -- after a previous pix six earlier in the game -- is the stuff that legends are made of.
