Mike Leach's name has shown up as a possible, although there are plenty of obstacles, such as a five-year buyout on his contract and a split among the heavy-hitting donors. Holgerson's name is also mentioned but not Littrell. http://www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-football/news/mike-le...

Putting compensation aside, is coaching in Lubbock, TX. an upgrade from Morgantown?

In the Big XII, I'd say yes.

Proximity to Texas, oklahoma recruits is far better in Lubbock than WVU.

WVU has more of a pipeline to Florida & Jersey. But not as much in southwest where Big XII is primarily located

Great question: If Holgerson feels like the pressure is on, nothing wrong with getting a new 5 year clock.

In terms of recruiting natural territory, I think it makes a lot of sense for him, since his recruiting style is heavily Texan versus Western PA/Ohio/DMV Area.

As to what WVU can offer him in terms of facilities and loyalty, my answer is no. WVU is way better in this regard and I think in the middle of a heavy fundraising campaign right now. We will see if he takes it, but I feel like it would be a lateral move outside of protecting himself from potentially getting fired from WVU.

Mike Leach has used...unusually pointed language to state that he's not interested in going back to Texas Tech: "I spoke to Mike Leach last night and he said he isn't interested in returning to Texas Tech. "They didn’t pay me last time. And I’m happy here.” Asked to elaborate, he said: "They haven’t paid me for 2009 and we won 9 games that year. And they haven’t won 9 games since." Texas Tech will always be a tough place to win. Even with A&M and UT being down the past decade or so, it has not given them much of a benefit.

Not the tradition or facilities the top tier of the conference has and its location is not exactly desirable.

Any coach working the traditional recruiting circuits there typically would have to convince a top prospect why they are a better option than Oklahoma, OK State, UT, A&M, TCU etc. Baylor was an obstacle for a while too probably although they may not ascend back to their recent perch for a while, if at all.

Could be some other turnover in the Big 10, I mean 12, before Christmas.

You already have Les Miles in at Kansas

Could see Snyder retiring again at K-State

I'm sure Campbell at Iowa State will get some offers, but may not take them.

The other programs seem pretty stable to me at this time but you never know.
