Your OHIO Football team is heading to Texas to participate in the 2018 DXL Frisco Bowl on Wednesday, December 19th! The game against San Diego State will kick off at 7 p.m. CT and will be played at Toyota Stadium.

Tickets can be reserved over the phone by calling 800-575-2287 or in-person at the Convocation Center Ticket Office, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Your complimentary tickets will be limited to six (6) per account. Seating locations will be determined by Ohio Bobcat Club priority points. The deadline to reserve tickets in order to be included in the priority points seating process is Thursday, December 13th at 5 p.m. ET. All tickets sold after the first 1,804 or after 5 p.m. on the 13th will be $65.
All tickets will be distributed at Will Call at the following locations and times in Frisco: Weston Stonebriar Hotel lobby – Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. -2 p.m. and Ohio Will Call at Toyota Stadium (North Box Office) – Wednesday beginning at 4:00 p.m. CT.

This is my time to shine! I've been living in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex since I graduated 6 years ago, so if you guys have any questions let me know. Can't help much with hotels, but I know restaurants, bars and breweries all over the area. I'll give most of my suggestions to the east part of the Metroplex, but I'll add a few on the west side as well. I haven't spent much time in Frisco, so my suggestions will mostly be in other cities. This is Texas, so you need to get BBQ and Mexican at least once.
First, this area is freaking huge! DFW airport alone is bigger than Manhattan. You're gonnna need to rent a car most likely. Public transportation and Uber works just fine in Dallas, but the Uber from Dallas to Frisco would be pricey to say the least. I don't think the rail in Dallas (DART) even runs all the way up to Frisco.
BBQ:
There's a number of good places in the area and I haven't hit them all. My personal favorites in order are Woodshed Smokehouse in Fort Worth, Pecan Lodge in Dallas and Hard Eight BBQ in Coppell (they also have a location in the Colony which is close to Frisco). Don't go Dickies.
Best Restaurants:
Babe's Chicken - Probably my favorite in the area. I love Miller's Chicken as much as the next guy, but this is the best fried chicken you'll ever have. They don't have menus, you just get an option of fried chicken, chicken fried steak, grilled chicken and some locations have fried catfish, and they come with sides served family style. Portions are big so I normally split an order with my fiance (but they'll charge you for one "veggie plate")(Frisco and Carrollton plus a couple more locations in the area)
Mexican: Trompo - The best tacos in the area. If you go into Dallas, you have to go to Trompo. You literally order from a hole in the wall and there's no seats, but pork tacos are phenomenal.(Dallas) Also check out Tortas La Hechizera (multiple locations), and Taqueria Guanajato (Denton)
Burgers: Rodeo Goat is my favorite (Dallas and Fort Worth) Also good are Off Site Kitchen, and Maple and Motor (both in Dallas)
Chinese: Royal China - Great Chinese. Get soup dumplings and anything with Sichuan peppercorns (Dallas) Jeng Chi in Richardson is closer to Frisco and also great
Pizza: Social Pie (Dallas) has great pizza and a good beer selection. Also check out Cane Rosso (multiple locations)
Steak: Pappas Bros in Dallas
Indian: Everest - Personal favorite for Indian food. Order a "thali" to try a number of dishes (Irving) Also check out India 101 for a big buffet (Irving)
Velvet Taco - These are not Mexican tacos, but they're damn good. Get the Chicken Tikka (Dallas and Fort Worth)
Favorite Bars in the area:
Dot's Hop House - Great outdoor seating and a huge tap menu. It's in a happening part of town called Deep Ellum so it can get busy (Dallas)
East Side (Denton) Big patio with food trucks. Something like 75 beers on tap. Same guys own Oak St Drafthouse down the road that feels like you're at an Athens house party but with craft beer
Paschall Bar - Great cocktails with a Wes Anderson movie feel (Denton)
HG Sply Co. (Dallas)
Flying Saucer - Great beer selection (Addison and Fort Worth)
The Grapevine - Chill dive bar(Dallas)
Breweries:
Lots of good breweries in the area. I love Peticolas and Noble Rey in Dallas the most. Community in Dallas is also cool because you get a great view of the Skyline. When out to eat, look for beers from Rabbit Hole, Oak Highlands, Armadillo Ale Works, Rahr and Martin House.
Bishop Arts Cider Company is also great. Their taproom is a big arcade called Cidercade where you pay $10 to get in, but all the arcades are set to free play. Similarly, I've heard good things about Free Play arcade in Richardson
If anyone's interested I'll write more things to do in the area if you're visiting more than a day. I've probably already written too much lol.

Due to family commitments around Christmas, I can never attend a bowl game until about Dec. 28th or so. The bowl I was able to attend was the one in Mobile, Alabama, when it was in early January. Now, they've moved that bowl to a much earlier date. I suspect I'll never be able to attend an OHIO bowl game again until we reach that New Year's Day bowl. Don't diss a man for dreaming!

Former player for Coach Solich, heading down to see the game. Parents just moved to Frisco three years ago. Was a given a list of restaurants within walking distance of stadium

I was there too. Seemed to be an odd time for a bowl. Jan. 5th or 6th? I think there were only two other bowls left to play when we played. Always thought that was odd.

For 34 years, Iworked for a company with headquarters in Dallas. Some of my most interesting and best times and meals were at these places: Sixth Floor (Kennedy Museum), restaurants - Fearings (nicest bathrooms you'll ever see), III Forks, Terillis and The Blue Goose (Greenville Avenue), Pappas Brothers (I have several $25 coupons if you want one), Texas Star golf course, and the Mesquite Rodeo. Over in Fort Worth, Joe T Garcia has unbelievable margarihatas. Some of the best Mexican food you'll find will be in hole in the wall places. Same with the barbeque.

Have dined at the 6th floor of the school book depository, The Blue Goose and Pappas Brothers. All fine places. And Fort Worth Stock Yards are a lot of fun.

No, Sir, it was at Detroit, the MACC. To this day my wife insists that if OHIO had had a shuttle for its fans as NIU did, the Green and White would have prevailed in the game. If you’d like to debate her on this topic, the video would probably go viral on YouTube! ;-)

I just read it and I got it. It's part of what we either don't teach or kids don't learn in school today - cultural literacy. For years I bet yearbook staff members in the schools I visited that an English teacher, a history teacher, and I - all born before 1960, could beat the whole yearbook class in a game of classic Trivial Pursuit - not because we were any smarter or had superior innate intelligence, but because we experienced the last of the great American classical education that included cultural literacy.
