I noticed something. These last two games Ohio wins 52-14 and 59-14. After both games there were very amicable meetings between the head coaches. No hard feelings from the Ball or Western coaches. I noticed after the Toledo vs Ball contest, a 45-13 loss for the Ball State team, coach Neu was much less amicable. I know why, it was about Toledo's last TD. the 41 yd pass with 1:23 left. Very glad Ohio has coach Solich.

Agreed on that front. Even at the start of the second half the playbook seemed to be scaled back tremendously and the bench gradually cleared.

Of course that's in Ohio's best interest to avoid a needless injury but I could see a very intentional approach to call off the dogs after halftime.

Granted there were some passes thrown in the second half but any reasonable coach knows you are one play away from QB2 becoming QB1 (especially WMU as they just had that happen) and they need some live game action/practice.

On the topic of Lester, still feel for him to this day on how this game ended:

Also, had you wanted tickets to that game, you had to use a process that is probably all but gone these days:

Agree, and will add that it's often a fine line between "calling off the dogs" and letting a beaten team get back in the contest. Sometimes that is a tough line to walk. Different sport, but I've personally made the mistake of calling off the dogs too early. It can cost you.

I'm very glad Solich wins with class. As things were going last night, no doubt we could have rolled WMU even worse. The fact that we didn't is probably part of the reason the coaches' handshake was amicable.

Brings back some memories there. Having the MAC Championship at Marshall was such a bad idea. Looking in the record books, Marshall won it all 4 years that it was there. Highly unfair to Toledo and WMU, who both had good teams in that era.

Which pisses me off as a MAC Fan that we catered to Marshall so much in their short time in the conference. They tried to act like they're the Texas of Mid-Majors and be able to dictate terms. And not only that, not getting Toledo in a bowl game when they were a Top 25 team along with WMU in 2000 was a slap in the face to the league. Which the following year was a joy to watch the MAC Championship in Toledo when Marshall got beat. To be honest, I hope they enjoy their time in CUSA and never get an invite from the league again.

While I share your disdain for Marshall, I'd welcome them back in a heartbeat. The league is better with them. In fact, they forced us to get better during their last stint.

Good point. Likely Ohio could have scored 60+ in the last two or three games had Ohio wanted to, even with the back ups playing.

We probably could have led 48-0 at the half. 21 seconds left with 1st and 10 on the opponent 37 with a TO in hand and we allowed the clock to expire. I don't remember ever intentionally declining an excellent opportunity to get points in the 1st half.

I remember many games we've done that when we were up only by a TD. This is one of the few times where I didn't scream at the TV when we didn't.

The opposing team sucks!

It's true that it would be better, but they made their own bed.

I think it was because Meyer came up limping after catching the pass. We had the game won, so why risk injuries.

This website has a few people who love to jump on Ohio when they lose and love to criticize Frank. Not all Ohio alums are Frank fan. For my money the Bobcats have been fun to watch and compared to the "old days, alot better." This university made a great decision hiring Frank and with or without a league championship I have enjoyed the past several seasons. Go Bobcats and beat the Redhawks!!

I also would prefer the Herd playing Ohio every year. What a great rivalry and they always bring fans and a short drive for both teams. Plus the Bobcats have won four of last five.

Really, vs the Herd, Ohio four of the last five. All you hear here are the disappointments of every season and Albin's 14 years of failure.

Don't pay attention to a few of the very negative posters on this website. They enjoy criticizing every opportunity they can get. Most Ohio alums realize that everything is not all green and white colored kool aide but they don't blast the teams for every mistake they make.

Ohio “called off the dogs” mainly earlier due to 3 games in 14 days. Brutal schedule for these athletes
