Wash. Rinse Repeat. Some of you were foolish enough to not notice that Franktober was just a couple weeks late in 2018.

Wow. What are you? 12 years old?

Did Frank take the safety? Did Frank miss the FG from 29?

Silly me, poked my head into the football board a bit today. Gonna go back to not doing that.

Frank coached the team to the 28-7 hole. And yes, he or Albin called the play that put Rourke in a position to be sacked in the end zone. Keep embracing 2nd in the MAC East every year because that is as good as it gets. That is a pretty exciting brand of football.

I didn't mean to be condescending to the poster but it's interesting to see the immature posts from grown adults. Disappointing loss no doubt. But the guys didn't quit being down 28 - 7. We've lost 3 games by 2, 3 and 4 points. Close to 9 - 1 but it is what it is. I suspect the sun will rise tomorrow.

Yes, it was Frank who dug the hole. He looked really slow in the first half in the secondary trying to defend the passes. He gave up way too many receptions. We should sit him next game as a DB. And then he fumbled that pass I guess, I though Cox was the receiver on that play.

He prepared the team for the game. The flat, uninspired first half is on him. Allowing Albin to call corner fade after corner fade to 5'9" Papi White is on him. Not recruiting dynamic playmakers is on him. The only quality performance tonight was by a player he lucked into as a walk-on. I'd love to see a rational explanation how anyone thinks there will ever be a conference title under his leadership. Is it too much to ask to expect a win vs. a 3-6 team in the worst division in college football?

I don't think anyone said the team quit.

But three losses by 2, 3 and 4 points ... do the coaches take ZERO blame for that???

The UC loss, the NIU and the Miami loss all reek of poor coaching decisions.

Close to 9-1 .... does that get you a trophy?

C'mon.

Are we not past moral victories in the 14th year???

I feel it is time for the administration to gently get Frank to retire and say goodbye to Albin and Burrow. Another year without a MAC title when we had so much coming back on offense and defensive backfield. If we were most colleges we would have done this years ago. Love Frank but man does this one hurt.

Buffalo also has seven losing seasons in the last ten. Ohio has zero. Do you really want to be Buffalo?

Separate points, first, Rourke didn't look like himself last night. Second, the offensive playcalling did look strange to me. Not sure if the plays were selected to protect a not-100% QB, or what. FWIW I'm not sure Albin called all those fades. As I recall there were a lot of plays where Rourke motioned Irons pre-snap out from behind him to his side. Essentially 100% of the time Ohio threw the ball out of that formation. So I think Rourke changed into a lot of pass plays, especially when Irons was in, and I'm not sure why. The pass game seemed much less effective than the run game last night. It's too bad because even an average Ohio offensive game would have been enough to win, after the D eventually got it together in the second half.

With another MAC Title on the way and a basketball program that is fully capable of going to the Sweet 16 this year....I'm going to say I'm intrigued.

It's not so much I'd like to be Buffalo.

It's more ... how the hell does a program that loses WAAAAY more than it wins over the last 10 years find a way to win TWO MAC titles (assuming they finish the deal this year) and Ohio goes bowl eligible for 10 years and can't win one title.

Even doormat programs like Buffalo find ways to rise up and win a title.

Yet .... Ohio just keeps scuffling to their 7-5 (5-3) seasons each year.

It's maddening how they continue to fall short every freakin' year.

Sorry,I disagree.
You're talking about adults,playing a D1 sport.

I would think every player knew the importance of last night's game.

When I played soccer and wrestled,we knew the importance of the game/match.
I can't remember the coaches needing to get us "up" for a game or match.

If you do want to blame on the coaches, for the team being "uninspired" in the first half, shouldn't some of that blame also fall on the team's captains ?

Yes, this. I still keep going back to SBNation's Bill Connelly's preview of Ohio for 2017 where he described the Bobcats as "disturbingly steady."

And the thing that is fascinating to me about this is that some folks who want to hang the basketball coach for not winning the MAC Tournament, are in some cases the same ones who back up the football coach and think 7-5, 8-4 every year is A-Ok. I'd think that each should be on the very hot seat, not just the basketball coach. And I don't get why Frank continues to get a pass. At the very least, the pressure from above to change up his coaching staff should be there. It's truly fascinating.

I love this defense we use every year to defend Frank and his coaches. If you are going to say Frank didn't do all those things, here are two rebuttals:

1. WHO RECRUITED THEM?
2. WHO PREPARED THEM?

We are now at the point where I officially would rather have the following coaches than our own:
Northern
Kent State
Buffalo
Toledo

That list the first 10 years of Frank's tenure was simply one school: Northern.

That's sad and I feel like it's growing. Is Chuck Martin any worse? He at least gets his team to improve by season's end. Tim Lester, while laying an egg against us, has done an admirable job after Row the Boat left and given Kron's conditions (no fans, no school support) Terry has done a solid job.

I've decided how you view the current state of Ohio Football is based on being results-based or process-based.

I'm cool with either one and in real life try to be completely process-based, but process-based entertainment requires a certain disppassionate distance for me. I can't care too much if the results don't actually matter too much. It's like watching a baseball team in a rebuild. You learn to love watching development, but that drug-like hit of adrenaline you get from a results-based program can't be there. The investment can't be there. You'd go crazy if you did.

I'm fine with Ohio being a processed-based program, but 2012 was a tantalizing glimpse at what could be.

The question is, would you rather be Toledo, Northern or Western who won MAC titles and also have finished as bowl participants every year? Using Buffalo as your argument is weak.

People always want to put the blame on someone but sometimes the reason things happen is just chance. It just so happened in the first half that Rourke slipped into that passing funk that has become less common where he isn't so accurate. Ragland was on the mark and his receivers didn't drop the ball. Everything Miami called seemed to be perfect with perfect execution. It was the opposite in the second half, other than one of the best kickers in the league missing a short field goal and Rourke trying to make a play and finding himself in the wrong spot. Those mistakes happen. They happened at just the wrong time. It sucks for Ohio but I don't think it's a lack of effort, a lack of preparation, a lack of ability. The randomness of sports make it fun a lot of the time but also frustrating.
