Never been a fan of the Steve Levy/Desmond Howard broadcast team, and they did nothing today to change my opinion, but Laura Rutledge did a credible job. I give them a C+. Anybody agree/disagree?

At least they didn't mention ad nauseum the usual stuff about how our coaching staff has been together forever, etc. And they actually talked about our game more than they did the playoff. And Dez said great things about Dorian. B-

I couldn't hear very well at the bar but was just pleased to see us get some ESPN royalty doing the game. Levy must have been pining for the Bahamas.

I personally thought Levy was great. He didn’t go down the retread topics of Solich at Nebraska, Albion and Burrows having been around, etc. Called us Ohio throughout and was on-point with the player names. Focused on the game for the most part and was very complimentary. I’d give him an A. Desmond was less impressive, often just parroting Steve’s points of emphasis.

I always like the work the Dez does. Unlike some ESPN announcers he seems to always do his homework and talks to coaches and players prior to the game and provides little insights during the game that give it added color. He seems to put in as much effort for non P5 games as he does for P5 games, and I never get the impression that he is being the least bit condescending. He did mispronounce one Bobcat name, but it was close enough that I gave him a pass on that. I'd give the whole team an A-. The Bobcats, of course, get an A+!!

Honestly, I was shocked we got this high caliber crew for our bowl. I guess it didn't hurt having the game in the Bahamas. Maybe this was a perk the crew earned. I concur with Ohio Cat Fan A-.

Seemed fine to me. Since they give the game about 60 seconds at halftime, I basically kept on Russ/Rob and turned the TV down at points like that.

Heard one O-H.....I-O,

and called #3 for UAB Cam Odom. But besides that, can't complain.

Enjoyed Rutledge's '#130' piece. That would piss me off too. Pretty neat to all of the guys who stayed through the cancellation of football at UAB and then the return of it. Talk about ups/downs/ups.

I thought Desmond was too light on the analysis end of things yesterday. But overall, I'd give them a B- or B.

Like mcbin, I had Russ and Rob turned on from time to time but also caught some of the ESPN broadcast. I'd give Levy and Dez a solid A-. They were entertaining.

Russ and Rob A+

Des referenced a couple of our previous games. He seemed to know the strengths of our team very well. Levy highlighted the fact that we played angry because the Bobcat's felt like they should have been a 10 win team. Des said that Dorian was our most physical back, I think AJ is our most physical back. Brown does have great vision and speed though, Des went on and on about his home run hitting capability. Des spoke a lot about Poling and Moore, they are our heroes on the defense. Des and Levy were both great, they had AJ's girlfriend's story on the broadcast. I give them an A and thank them for giving our players props, I even liked the halftime crew. They could have said Frank looked strong, I give them an A-.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

I thought they did a good job. Once it sounded like there was a mixup about who stopped having a football team, but other than that, pretty good.

I thought they did well. Interesting, seemed genuinely supportive of our game as opposed to constant rattle about the upcoming playoff. One minor glitch: early on Levy mentioned some sort of passport fiasco, and then cut himself off saying,"much more on that later," or something like that. Trouble is, I never heard him follow up. Maybe he did and I missed it, but it seems he never got back to the story.

Cats win 41-6, and the obligatory post has to appear complaining about something game related. Got to love it.

Yep, expected it. Regarding the halftime crew, Valleycat and I are pleased that fellow valley boy Joey Galloway from Bellaire did a credible job.

Ha. Also the thread belittling the strength of our opponent was obligatory.

Yes, OHIO good wins always have the obligatory asterisk: OHIO beats Penn State, they were too emotional that day and it gave the 'Cats and unfair advantage; OHIO beats Pitt, we didn't score any offensive TDs; OHIO beats NIU in 2015, we had more rest than they did; etc, etc.

I think that might have had something to do with game being over pretty quickly. I don't think they wanted to lay into UAB too much considering their back-story. Like others I thought he did a good job on his homework on us.

I like Steve Levy as a play-by-play guy. Doesn't take himself too seriously and has fun during the game. Dez does his homework and knows his stuff. He also doesn't show bias against Ohio teams. Laura seemed fine as a sideline reporter. Overall, it was a good team.
