The next round of talks with the TV networks about TV contracts could be ugly. I think the cash cow has died and I have to think TV revenue will be less in the next round of talks, possibly much less. Combine that with all of the vague rules, suspensions, and fines related to player conduct, and it could be really ugly. And that doesn't even include how some fans interpret and respond to the kneeling. The NFL is expanding into London and Mexico, ad revenues has increased and it is still number 1. They need a good leader and some good ambassadors to help expand their footprint into Mexico, London and they should also give Toronto a franchise. There is no rule on kneeling, and after the President made the references he’s did, the best move to make was to do nothing on the kneeling. The NFL is a $7 Billion a year entity, and under Goodell the TV and sponsorship money to the owners has skyrocketed, he’s earned that money by making the NFL and it’s owners the wealthiest League in the US. His salary is on par with any major business who’s making that kind of cash. All you'll find is a running diary of people cursing him for his blown coverages and horrific tackling. I've cursed him once or twice watching the Black and Gold. He can be incredibly frustrating to watch ... but I do agree, he has had a long NFL career, something not a lot of Bobcats have accomplished over the years. He does seem like a great guy off-the-field ... does a lot of charity, etc. On the field ... his antics are tiresome. Especially because he isn't good enough to be acting like that. Steelers have let up something like six 50+ yard TD passes this year ... the most in franchise history since the '30s or something. Many of those you can see #23 chasing down the receiver that has blown past him. But I wouldn't single out the Steelers are the sole violator of good sportsmanship on the field. Sadly ... this is what the NFL has become across the board with all teams. From Gronk to OBJ to Burfict ... the list goes on and on of guys who do questionable things on the field. And yes ... Tomlin is a little different in his coaching ... a little more of hype-guy than others ... but I don't think he condones what JuJu Smith-Schuster did to Burfict or a lot of the antics Antonio pulls during a game. This league is becoming the wild west more and more each day ... and that starts at the top with Goodell. The league's inability to create a standard for what the rules are leaves the cavernous grey area of what guys think they can/can't get away with ... especially when it comes to tackling/hitting on defense. They are so wildly inconsistent in the way they referee and police the league ... it's hard to watch sometimes.
