Add Georgia Southern. Chad Lunsford let go after a 1-3 start. He was 28-21 overall but the program has slid after going 10-3 in 2018 and with the rise of Louisiana and Coastal in the Sun Belt they felt it was time for a change.

Rumor is new AD wants to get away from the triple option as well, which will not go over well with the fans.

Just some hot seat musings:

LSU - Sounds crazy to fire Ed Orgeron after he just went 15-0 and won you a national title in 2019, but here we are. This feels eerily similar to the Auburn situation with Gene Chizik when they won a national title in 2010; a coach inherits a dynamite roster and gets lucky on a superstar transfer QB and offensive coordinator to carry you. Take out the 2019 season and Orgeron is 33-16 overall, which isn't terrible and by god other places would absolutely take that. But LSU probably won't.

Virginia Tech - Justin Fuente has flirted with other jobs so many times I think the AD has lost count. But it seems he keeps winning "just enough" to not fire him. The problem is the consistency. One week they'll win a big game and the next they'll fall flat on their face.

Louisville - Bad fit from the start with Scott Satterfield and another strained AD/Coach relationship when he publicly boasted about wanting the open South Carolina job last year. Add that into his record at Louisville being 15-14 so far, he's more or less done no matter what happens this season.

(Weirdly you could probably swap Fuente to Louisville and Satterfield to Virginia Tech and things make way more sense.)

Bowling Green - Scot Loeffler is a terrible coach and has been riding the coattails of his connection to Tom Brady his entire career. He should have never been hired and that win over Minnesota was a complete aberration. Unless they somehow miraculously win the MAC East I can't see how he gets to stay.

TCU - Possible we see another program lifer ride off into the sunset very soon. It may not happen this season, but Gary Patterson is wearing on the fan base and donors are getting impatient that his calling card, his defense, is no longer what it used to be. Another thing in play here is the Jeff Traylor sweepstakes. Traylor has turned UTSA into a legitimate program relying heavily on his connections with high school coaches in Texas. If TCU wants a chance at Traylor, they may need to work something out with Patterson in a hurry.

Texas Tech - And the other Texas school in the Jeff Traylor competition is probably the Red Raiders. Matt Wells hasn't done anything here (12-15) after his two 10-win seasons at Utah State made him a viable P5 candidate and I'm not sure it was ever going to work or was a great fit. Traylor would be a great hire. They are 4-1 so far this year though, but Tech always falls off a cliff in Big XII play.

Florida State - Jay Norvell has been a disaster from the beginning, but I'm not sure they have enough money to buy him out considering their last bad hire with the Willie Taggart situation. And Norvell has been even worse than Taggart was on the field. So there's that.

Syracuse - Non conference wins over Ohio and Liberty helped Dino Babers a ton, but they just lost to terrible Florida State and still have the meat of their schedule coming up against good teams. Pull some upsets, keep your job. Simple.

Navy - Ken Niumatalolo was furious with the Navy AD who fired his longtime respected offensive line coach without Niumatalolo's permission or support. The situation got even worse when they hired him back after Niumatalolo publicly addressed his frustration over the whole situation. It's a problem that could easily see Niumatalolo walk out the door, so this isn't necessarily a hot seat but the job could open.

Washington State - How much longer are they as a school going to put up with an Anti-Vax coach who also sucks on the field? The eastern side of Washington is way different than the West and I get that, but Rolovich needs to be canned.

North Texas - After two 9-win seasons based largely on the play of QB Mason Fine and Offensive Coordinator Graham Harrell, Seth Littrell's teams haven't done squat since. His record is 9-17 the last three years.

Colorado State - So much for Urban Meyer's blessing in getting Steve Addazio this job after he was canned at Boston College. You wrote you're own book on this one, CSU.

Cal - Justin Wilcox has a rather large buyout that I'm not sure Cal can afford, especially based on the PAC-12's paltry media rights deal. But he did himself no favors hiring an offensive coordinator nobody wanted and this year has been proof of that. This program was on the rise going 8-5 in 2019 but they're 2-7 since then. He probably gets one more year but I wouldn't be extremely shocked if he was let go.

Arizona - They're stuck with Jedd Fisch for the forseeable future due to financial woes at the school, but keep an eye out for this one eventually going down. It's not good.

New Mexico State - I really don't know how former Kent State coach Doug Martin still has a job with an overall record of 24-69 at this school. This is probably the hardest job in the FBS if we're being honest, though.

Texas State - Jake Spavital rolled the dice this season knowing he was probably going to get fired unless he won something. Doing the opposite of what Jeff Traylor did at UTSA, Texas State didn't sign a single high school senior and relied only on the transfer portal this season. He's 6-22 overall here.

You ever been to Eastern Washington? Idaho border? Eastern Washington as a whole leans anti-vax.

I know which is why I said as much. I'm honestly just surprised to see this because I've yet to see another program's coach be this resistant to the vax and them seemingly not caring. Good luck recruiting that.

Well, OHIO would!

If LSU is actually that stupid, I say we make him an offer as kind of another "Solich-type hire." Then we ask Joe Burrow to pay for Albin's buyout, and help convince his old coach to come to Athens! While this whole scenario is very unlikely, and depends on people in Louisiana losing their collective minds, it's interesting to contemplate while going through a so-far miserable football seasion. As another poster has in his signature line, "I've seen crazier things happen . . ."

Wonder how Orgeron's voice would sound with our presser audio setup?

He also covered up some sexual assault cases, so if you wanna deal with that be my guest. The whole AD down in Baton Rouge is a mess.

In any event, I don't think that's as much LSU being stupid as it is Nick Saban and Alabama completely destroying the curve on what a championship program looks like. So everyone else keeps trying to play catch up and hire new. Almost like it can't be replicated!

Ogeron is a whopping 23-13 at LSU with teams that did not Burrow. For his career he is 39-40 without Joe Burrow. And he makes $8+ Million a year. Let that sink in!

At least listening to the pressers would be more interesting. That might be worth giving him $700K or so...

You saying he couldn't out-recruit Albin? Not to mention out coach?

Did I miss it? I don't see Tim Albin on this coaching carousel list. Is there a reason for that?

Sure hope this is the last season for Collins, but the nepotism probably won't allow it!

If Scott Frost is fired at Nebraska, do we pick up another former cornhusker coach?

Now there is a real evaluator of talent! The guy will always be tied to his comment that Joe Burrow was not better than what they already had.

Who would you have hired in July? Where would you find a full staff in July. I’ll await this educated answer.

I would’ve made him an interim position since it was so late. Good enough for ya?

And that’s basically a lame duck in recruiting and everything else. Guess that’s probably why you do not work in the industry.

So what’s recruiting looking like right now? Putting the interim tag on for this year could’ve saved a lot of money for the school. Instead we’re stuck for another 3 or 4 years but maybe things will drastically change. Might be a lame duck for a year but I’d take that over 3. What would you do if you were in the “industry”?
