Maybe this was already done and I missed it. In that case, please forgive me for a repeat. If not, here's at least one person's prediction for the year that is quickly approaching.

Sept. 3 FLORIDA ATLANTIC L
Sept. 10 at Penn State L
Sept. 17 at Iowa State L
Sept. 24 FORDHAM W
Oct. 1 at Kent State W
Oct. 8 AKRON W

Oct. 22 NORTHERN ILLINOIS L
Oct. 29 BYE
Nov. 1 BUFFALO W
Nov. 8 at Miami W
Nov. 15 at Ball State L
Nov. 22 BOWLING GREEN L

5-7 overall record, 4-4 in the MAC, no postseason, new coach in 2023

I think the AD would retain him given that scenario. 4-4 in the MAC would save his job.

I'm taking the OVER. 6-6.

OU is always good for a baffling loss, so there are certainly some toss-ups in there, but I can see a path to 7 wins. Hopefully 6 and back to a bowl game would be nice.

It's a brutal open to the season, I'm not sure what Julie's cutting point is, but I honestly don't see a scenario when Albin makes it beyond the BYE week unless they manage to pull out one of the first three games. Reigns are handed over to Brian or Spense during the BYE, OU rattles off 3 or 4 wins - Miami would be a huge one. We probably end up hiring the coach that finishes 4-0, 3-1.

Would get Hartline or Frost on the ready.

Doesn't the clause that allows Ohio to relieve him with almost no cost to the University come after the season? If that's the case I doubt that he'll get fired mid-season. That would be burning buy-out money. Someone posted the contract last year. I'm not sure where to go back and find it

I picked 2-10 up there which is the worst so far. That's because I see us as at least a very slight underdog in 10 games. If we couldn't beat a younger BG team last year I don't Ohio as the favorite for a home win this year. Buffalo is tough because we have them at home but I still think we would be about a 1 point underdog if it were this week. But with 10 chances to pull mostly small upsets we'll get some and I think 4 or 5 wins is actually a more likely number. But if I tried to guess which ones I thought I'd lose that game and also the one where we do get an upset.

Albin has been here a long time. I'd hate to see it end with Ohio firing him. I'd love to see at least 7 or 8 wins and make it a happy decision for Cromer.

Does anyone know, if the team "tanks" , if O.U. could do like they do in private business , "relieve Albin of his duties as head coach".

Pay the rest of his salary for this season, and name an interim coach to finish out 2022.

O.U. could even work out some type of arrangement to let Albin resign/retire.

Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

You think we would spend extra to get rid of him a couple of weeks early?

I'm really not into game-by-game predictions this early in the season, but since you asked...

Sept. 3 FLORIDA ATLANTIC L (I thought we might win this one, but not so much after watching FAU last week)
Sept. 10 at Penn State L (It would take a miracle to win one of these two
Sept. 17 at Iowa State L (games and the Germans have outlawed miracles)
Sept. 24 FORDHAM W (We lose this, we lose Albin)
Oct. 1 at Kent State L
Oct. 8 AKRON W (Maybe the most improved team in the league; glad it's a home game)
Oct. 15 at Western Michigan L
Oct. 22 NORTHERN ILLINOIS L
Oct. 29 BYE
Nov. 1 BUFFALO W (Da Bulls have enough piece parts left to be tough; close game)
Nov. 8 at MofO L
Nov. 15 at Ball State W
Nov. 22 BOWLING GREEN W

5-7, 4-4

Some additional thoughts: (1) The last time we won at WMU, it was a dark and stormy night with weird things happening, like a blocked punt that was picked up on a high bounce and run in for a TD -- we'll need breaks like that to beat them this year; (2) MOFO was more a non-loss than a win last year -- it should be close again, but I don't see it happening for us; (3) We have all the best teams on the road -- could be tough to find a win away from Peden; (4) For the first time in quite a while I don't see a "guaranteed win" on the schedule.

We will get by.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will survive.

If you name an Assistant "interim" you wouldn't necessarily be paying any extra.

You pay Albin for the rest of the year.

Interim takes over with a chance to prove themselves.

Also lets you start looking at other options.

Sept. 3 FLORIDA ATLANTIC L (Bobcats will be a step too slow on both sides of the ball)
Sept. 10 at Penn State L (No repeat of last time. Will be very one-sided)
Sept. 17 at Iowa State L (Put up a fight for a while, but not enough talent)
Sept. 24 FORDHAM W (They will find a way to keep the Rams around in the 4th quarter)
Oct. 1 at Kent State L (Will they show up to play?)
Oct. 8 AKRON W (But not decided until the 4th quarter)
Oct. 15 at Western Michigan L (Clunker 1)
Oct. 22 NORTHERN ILLINOIS L (Clunker 2)
Oct. 29 BYE
Nov. 1 BUFFALO W (Blind squirrels find a nut)
Nov. 8 at Oxford Tech L (Their QB throws for 500+ yards)
Nov. 15 at Ball State L (Sleepwalk loss)
Nov. 22 BOWLING GREEN L (Team has packed it in, hopefully awaiting news of the
newest Ohio Coach)

3-9, 2-6

I'll make my predictions for the rest of the season after Saturday's game. There are just too many uncertainties right now: How will the transfers perform? What effect will the new DC have on performance? How good is the OL and DL? Will Kurtis pass accurately, or wildly inaccurately like he did a lot last year? Will our defense pressure the opposing QB and force bad passes and turn overs? How good (or bad) will our kicking game be? Have the coaches been doing a better job with the basics -- like teaching how to wrap up tackles. I'll bet I'll know the answer to many of these questions by the end of the first quarter.

Last year, I was in the fire TA right now camp. Since he's been retained, against my unsolicited recommendation, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt, at least through the 1st quarter on Saturday.

The AD has what was the product on the field last season with the game film available to review if needed. She should also have had interviews with graduating team members for their take on how the staff communicated with the players and how the staff dealt with adversity and success. How the attitudes of the players may have changed from the beginning of the season till the loss to BGSU.

Now she will have this season to compare the last. What metrics will she use to determine retention or the alternative?

The SINGLE game I have circled on the schedule is HOMECOMING vs the Zips. If the Bobcats lose to Kent in week one and then get leapfrogged by the formerly lowly Zips, then you'd have to think the program is headed in the wrong direction and a lame duck is at the helm.

Bobcats go 2-2 to start
Bobcats finish the MAC at 3-5 with wins vs Akron, Balls and Buffalo.

As has been posted here numerous times, JC seems adverse to responding to emails and voice mails.

Communication doesn't seem to be one of her stronger attributes.

So, in my opinion ,the odds of her interviewing graduating team members after last season, seems pretty remote.

Who hired Brian...?

Call it a gut feeling, but Brian doesn't seem like he would've came here without some assurances.

He was the Offensive Coordinator and AHC at both Hawaii and Washington State... then ends up in Athens as the "passing game coordinator"....?

I've spent way too much time in my life reading this board, and the percentage of posters whose opinion warrants a response from Julie Cromer seems very, very small to me.

If she replied to every nut job on this board who emailed her, it would be a bad sign about her priorities.
