On any given Saturday....

Southern Illinois has done what no MAC team has done this season -- beaten a "P". They took down Northwestern by 7.

Oh, and Missouri State leads #10 Arkansas 27-17 in the 4th.

It's true that the MAC has not beaten a "P team" yet this year, but to be fair Vandy was on the ropes at NIU until the unfortunate Lombardi injury. WMU has played a good game against Pitt, but Pitt is fired up to get revenge over last year's defeat by WMU, which for much of the season last year was their only defeat.

Now that a MAC "bottom feeder" beat high-flying Marshall, and another perennial weakling, EMU, beat a PAC 12 team, maybe the entire premise of this thread is off base.

It was the dose of reality I needed. I’m back at the green Kool-Ade Bar. Bring on Fordham!

The Sun Belt came back to earth this week with bupkis vs "P" teams and losses to BG (T'erd) and Rice (Louisiana). They still have the most wins vs "P"s but their G5 record isn't so good anymore. Here's the OOC summary:

AAC 17-13 (1-10 vs “P”; 8-2 vs G5; 8-1 vs 1AA/FCS)
CUSA 15-17 (0-7 vs “P”; 7-9 vs G5; 8-1 vs 1AA/FCS)
MAC 12-22 (1-15 vs “P”; 3-5 vs G5; 8-2 vs 1AA/FCS)
MWC 16-18 (1-14 vs “P”; 6-2 vs G5; 9-2 vs 1AA/FCS)
SBC 20-19 (3-11 vs “P”; 7-8 vs G5; 10-0 vs 1AA/FCS)

I was wondering why BG had its homecoming day so early. They have two home games in mid-October, vs Buffalo and MOFO. But instead of homecoming, they have a bigger draw for those games -- Oct 8 is Josh Harris Bobblehead Day and Oct 15 is Kory Lichtensteiger Bobblehead Day.

Maybe we should have some bobbleheads for midweek MACtion games.

Bobbleheads I'd like to see:

TJ Carrie
Frank Solich
Dion Byrum
Todd Snyder
Bill Hess

There are others, of course, but those are the first that come to mind.

Well, there is one other that comes to mind, but will probably never happen, for obvious reasons -- Cleve Bryant, the player, as distinct, for more than one reason, from Cleve Bryant the coach.

Yes, I said that there were others, and Vince would certainly be a good candidate. Problem is that the AD's office doesn't even know he ever existed, as they left him off the printed programs (remember those archaic things?) when they used to list "Bobcats in the NFL." It's a new administration now, so maybe they've figured out that he was once a Bobcat. BTW, Vince passed away at the age of 87 in 2019. RIP!

I’m with you OCF. I’ve never understood why he’s received little to no recognition by the university athletics department over the years. It can be argued that he was the best and most impactful former Bobcat ever to play in the NFL. My personal opinion is it’s not much of an argument. Its akin to mentioning the best NBA players who are former Bobcats and leaving out Gary Trent.
