Any word on Nathan is progressing?

Will he be ready for San Diego State?

Nathan Rourke is getting ready to try to earn the backup quarterback position with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

We know Kurtis Rourke has been able to do some practicing. The extent of what he has been able to do and when has not been extensively covered since there is no full time beat writer post pandemic. Everything we have heard leads us to believe that he is likely to try to go against SDSU. We don't know this with certainly nor how close to 100% he is likely to be.

Makes me a little nervous. The speed at which he is back.

Got a chance to talk to Albin briefly and he was *very* enthusiastic about how far and fast "Nathan O'Rourke" has come. What that means as far as live reps, we'll probably be playing wait and see for a while. Hardest part about coming back are the ghosts.

Honestly, I hope he stays in a knee brace, on a wheelchair, inside a bubble, on the moon until he's 99%. I hate seeing kids rush back quickly. I'd rather have him for a 9-0 conference title run than have him twist his knee on a scramble at FAU.

If I had to guess, we won't see him play until home vs LIU, at the earliest. Possibly not til Iowa State. I would be cautious testing out my knee on someone else's turf.

Didn't use a knee brace in spring practice.

This all I was able to find out about Nathan. Apparently he had surgery in January to remove the metal plate and screws that had been installed to repair his Lisfranc sprain. There seems to be every reason to expect a complete recovery. He expected to compete for the backup position, and most likely to end up on the practice squad this fall.

The sad truth is that he can make a lot more on an NFL practice squad than as the MVP of the CFL.

Speaking of the O'Rourkes, Nathan got married this weekend with Kurtis by his side. Saw him cutting a rug in a couple videos. It's not the hoverround I was hoping he'd be on until September, but he looks *agile*.

Highly touted recruit. Transferred to Ohio after a referral from Quinn Corna. HUGE GET.

And, Quinn, whose grandmother was a legend in women's golf throughout the Buckeye State, said that O'Rourke would be a two-sport guy and would put OHIO golf in the national spotlight with his ability to hit eagles and aces on nearly every hole. Just like Corna he was heavily recruited by both Duke and Notre Dame.

Yep, she was in my high school as well as grade school class in first grade. You have a very sharp memory, at least about my personal life history.

Appears to be in a position to solidify the 3rd QB spot. With the new rules, he won't be active for any games, but will be the emergncy QB and get practice reps.

C.J. Beathard actually passed him for two?

Cant see that sticking for long.

The emergency QB spot was considered the most likely result when he signed.

Could just be his recent success in the CFL talking, but I've spent some time on the Jags fan sties and most people are pretty high on him. And nobody is high on Beathard. It's still early. Would love to see him secure that 2nd spot (so I can justify buying a jersey).

Gonna be fun watching them both play a ton in preseason.

As I recall, when he was signed, he was given the promise that he would be able to compete for the backup spot. The new rule allows him, if he doesn't win the #2 spot, to be able to be the #3 guy, a more solid position than being on the practice squad. Yes, sadly, being on the practice squad pays more than being the MVP of the CFL.

Beathard’s been the #2 the past two seasons. Jags are actually in a playoff position. they’ll want someone with at least beathard’s experience as backup.
