If that's the case then we all got fooled.

This would be appropriate if he ends up going FCS or something. I wouldn't gloat until then. Him pulling out of Ohio does not prove he is a weak QB.

None of what you said makes any sense, but I digress…

I said I would be shocked if he was even going to be QB3 here, he is not, he could be QB1 for the 49ers this weekend and I would still be correct.

Until I see a known reputable account independently confirm it and not base it off that tweet, I won't believe it.

Maybe he took a PWO offer from them. Maybe. But it seems entirely too far fetched that Alabama took a guy that was a MAC level recruit.

I’ve always said I liked Parker….even before the bowl game.

Backups aren’t shabby.

With that said I’m not losing any sleep over portal absurdity.

Parker does fit OUr offense better than Gandy….with OU talented WR room he will be fine….and then he turns on his tailback toughness.

I do think that the threat of a running QB could be higher next year assuming Parker gets the nod. I think KR wasn't playing at full health most of the year and wasn't as capable/confident of a runner as a result-making the O a bit more limited when the passing game broke down and he wasn't as comfortable to tuck and run.

Jokes aside, they need scout team QB's also.

Especially in this era when an elite QB is gonna cost you $1M+... Texas had a brief moment this year (maalik is gone now), but long gone are the days of having Mac Jones, Tua, Jalen in the same room.

Keep in mind though, also in that room:

- Braxton Barker. 1 career pass.
- Kyle Edwards. 0 career passes.
- Layne Hatcher. Grad Transfer at Ball State. Previously at Arkansas State, Texas State, and Alabama.

So... just being the roster doesn't mean you're bound for the NFL. I wish the kid well. We hardly knew ya. Being the son of a long term FBS coach is probably worth something and will get you in a lot of doors.

That's a good point. I also think he also could be positioning himself for a coaching career. Having another coaching tree in his network would be helpful. Maybe a bigger school offers him a scholarship as a backup with a suggestion of a GA role afterward.

I’m hearing that he was extremely homesick and didn’t fit in with the team. Heard that not many guys were talking to him and were making fun of him because of the viral clip of him shaking while in the game. We have good qbs on roster that have been here and fit in would rather have them than a guy that doesn’t fit in and there is no chemistry.

I hate to say this, but this sounds like a toxic culture. It may be the reason that half the impact players on offense fled. Homesickness is logical for a kid who has never left his hometown. However, this could be a red flag that they can't successfully integrate portal guys.

This could be a real problem across the country. Who wants to be apart of a culture who brings in talent to take your starting spot or even roster spot? Its only natural to feel some type of way towards a new person coming to take your job. Especially if you aren't getting paid and the new guy is.

This is not the same as recruiting kids out of high school, this is free agency.

I don't think anybody actually knows sh** about this. some folks probably got in the kid's ear about better opps out there and he made a quick decision. More likely he saw a full quarterback room and wasn't so sure he'd be the starter.

This.

I told my wife who is not a football person about this situation and she said wow what a baby.

Just another chapter on the idiocracy of the portal.

Concerned Cats just need to watch the bowl highlights.

All my SE Ohio friends who saw him play for four years are very high on Winters as well.

I think it was always this way with recruiting. Ask Quentin Maxwell how the Bobcat's JUCO recruiting was. It's accelerated because the players wanted the opportunity to make money. Welcome to the adult world of capitalism.

I agree it was always that way except now they are literally dangling $ in front of kids instead of selling them on the program, coaching staff, facilities, and ummm academic offerings lol.

If I was recruited out of high school and stuck with the program without getting paid outside of my scholarship and then the staff pays somebody to come in and take my job, you bet I'm going to be pissed off. Now let that same scenario play out in every position room...toxic culture. These guys already can't trust a coaching staff and now they can't trust the guys next to them.

It was reported on here that there was something going on with the team and that’s why so many guys left before the bowl game. No idea if that’s right or not , but it was coming from a former player - not from the current players.

I really don’t think that Gunnar was afraid of competing against our current players, he competed against better players at OSU. He had his moments at the highest level of FBS football.

I’m waiting to see where he lands to make better guesses about what went wrong.

He was crazy homesick. Wanted to go back to Stillwater the first minute he got to Ohio. He is a Stillwater HS kid and then played for his Dad. He also wasn't going to play here IMO.
Weird story from the start.

Bigfoot has been seen in Athens more than this kid.

Do we have any confirmation he ever set foot in Athens? Homesick? He was committed here for SEVENTEEN DAYS. He went to FOUR DAYS of classes - allegedly.

I've had longer hangovers than time he was allegedly on campus.
