Syracuse message board thinks this will be a slaughter. Hoping they're wrong. Cuse have a solid team but a lot of new parts, might not have it all clicking right off the bat.

That said, I'm picking Syracuse 35-17.

The betting line is up to 17.5 which puts us around 8 or 9 to 1 to pull off an upset.

I was going to sign up for a streaming service with access to ACCN but from the sound of it, this may be one to just "enjoy" on the radio!

I believe ESPN+ gives you access to the game as well. And I believe it comes packaged with Hulu.

Nah. I have ESPN+. Unless you have a paid subscription to the actual linear channels - like ESPN, U, 2, ACCN, etc - it blocks you out from games that are broadcast on those channels. THat is supposed to change in 2025 when they launch a DTC app.

Because we lost so much production from last years team, and there are just so many unknowns, it's really not that surprising to see the number go higher.

And to be perfectly honest, I'm sure it will continue to go higher next week. Probably closer to +20.5.

Its a brutally efficient market and its been open a long time. Why would it go up more now if it hasn't already? What are we going to learn in the next 9 days that we don't know now that you know will point in Syracuse's favor.

I mean the line could get bigger but at this point I'd think it is 50/50 on which way it goes.

The unknowns will make this season exciting. Top 5 new players I am excited to see on Saturday:
1. Blake Leake
2. Coleman Owen
3. Anthony Tyus
4. Carson Heidecker
5. Ben McNaboe

Expect a NFL offense.

Syracuse's starting OL averages 6'5, 321lbs

The second string is big and solid too. You guys know McCord. We have a big drop-off at 2nd string QB but not any other offensive group. RB is 3 deep. TE one of the best groups in the country.

We play a 4-2-5 a change from the Rocky Long 3-3-5. Our DL has one star (Fadil Diggs) and a bunch of new guys and some decent guys from last year. We aren't huge at DL but they are quick. LBers are solid with Marlow Wax leading the group. DBs are deep but lots of new pieces. Devin Grant from Buffalo is in a battle to start.

If McCord gets time it could get ugly...but why we play the game.

Cuse I expect will run to establish the pass early.

Our STs are average

I expect about 37-38K for the game. Assuming no serious injuries I think Cuse wins 38-21.

Vegas implied score is 32.5-15 so you aren't too far off from that in the prediction. I'd be pretty happy if we get 21 but I'd certainly like to surrender less than 38

This is not a game we are supposed to win, so we can hopefully capitalize on some early season miscommunication and mistakes on behalf of Syracuse. I am also hoping that our running game will help us better manage the game and keep the Syracuse Offense off of the field. It sounds like they are clearly looking way ahead of us, so let us at least give them a scare.

Yes, we definitely will need to run the ball to have a chance. Their new coach was hired mostly because he was a great recruiter at Georgia. They have a huge amount of turnover too. They might take some time to gel as well. But I think there is a very good possibility that we'll just get out jocked.

Yeah, but, maybe, not until the late third or fourth quarter, thus making it feel as though we were in the game initially. Besides, this whole NIL thing provides a lot of mystery to these teams, which, probably, includes even the coaching staff themselves. While some of these players might, in fact, be the real deal, it's not like they are playing for Georgia, Ohio State, or Alabama, so why did they end up at Syracuse instead of at a bigger football power? Just a question. Of course, we also know from history that this is a team sport, and, sometimes, even the best players are not able to gell together, no matter how good they are.

In some ways college football has had this element, but even moreso in today's environment of rapid movement...We have no idea what to expect. Very excited to see how we do Saturday and determine my confidence level the rest of the way.

With GT's win over FSU last weekend, Syracuse's 2nd game just got more exciting to them with pretty much every fan overlooking us. Of course, that's just fan board chatter, but maybe the team is thinking some of the same.

I'm bullish on our offensive potential this season. I think our backfield, plus a healthy PN as a major running threat makes us dangerous. Oline not AS experienced, but not exactly green either. They are big and talented. We scored 41 in a bowl game without every starting skill position from the end of the season and without ever stretching the field using a limited short notice playbook (Yes, I realize that's Georgia Southern not an ACC school). Hopefully Navarro getting a full spring and Fall with starter reps means we're ready to stretch the field a little, then I like our chances to score 25+ on these guys.

What about defense? will it look a lot different? Can we pick right up after Nowinsky's departure?

Biggest danger is getting down early before we can adjust to whatever they're doing with new coaching staff and schemes. 0-1 turnovers and we're in this game in the 4th quarter.

Now that the transfer portal and NIL are nice and comfortable for the P5, we have too many losses for me to think we have any chance. Syracuse will bask in their glory and then return to a 6-7 win season.

Now....this is a real game. A game to see how we get this many new players to gel before the MAC Schedule.

Not being a downer here folks but we are knee deep in this new clown show brought on by NIL and the Portal.

I do not like lining up against teams and knowing we have next to no chance to beat. This is really the 1st year in decades I feel this way.

At a minimum, the MAC and Sun Belt are the new high schools for the P5. My hope is we keep our coaches and maintain some stability in the hoops and football programs.

Get out of September 2-2 then on to Akron and our MAC Schedule. Don't lose to Fiami and get a decent Bowl Game. That is happy for me.

GO BOBCATS!

Recent history would make me expect that the game notes with the depth chart will be out tomorrow. Last year we could guess the depth chart. This year it will be interesting,

Anyone else see Coleman Owen was named a Captain? That's pretty awesome for a kid who has been in the building for about three days. Says a lot about him. Makes me think he's been pretty impressive in practice. I've got high hopes for these new kids, especially Owen and Rodarte.
