With Reno as HC, that could just be a psychological ploy for consumption in Athens. Trust me, even if injured you will see people on the field if Reno deems them necessary.

Will not matter, unless Stubenville is so dominate up front, that it's a constant jailbreak the Joey will do his thing.

Trey Williams is the one who will see his average fall in this game, but all he needs is a little crease.

You know, as does Valley Cat, that the Valley type of football is a different animal than it is down here in SEO. That said, if the o-line can open up some gaps in Dean Martin Blvd, Athens should score some points

Interesting note, Stubenville has a losing record against teams from the SE District.

Not to mention Barrett returning with, I believe, 3 years of eligibility left.

And he will be. Miller is Miller. Barrett was the #2 ranked QB as a recruit and will have a year's experience as starter. Gibson is considered the #1 QB recruit. Burrow will be the least decorated...which may determine starting gates, but not much else. Logic would say he gets redshirted - but I could see OSU redshirting Gibson instead so as to save him for future years. I still say Burrow goes to OSU, but rethinks once there. We'll see. Key now is stay healthy and have fun.

In talking about Ohio State QB recruits, this week the Big Red will obviously face young Mr. Burrow. However, last week they got to face even younger Ohio State QB recruit, Danny Clark of Massillon Washington, who has already pledged to Ohio State's 2017 class. That's right, he is the kid Ohio State recruited/pledged after his freshman season. It will be fun to see how Mr. Burrow performs as opposed to how Mr. Clark performed. Final score last week, 26-13 Massillon.

You are right, Steubenville is now only a small D-IV program with about 250 boys in the top 3 grades. Obviously much smaller than Athens. It is no longer the largest program in Jefferson County, being behind Wintersville Indian Creek and just ahead of both Richmond Edison and Rayland Buckeye Local. Further, their record this year includes victories over D-II programs Cleveland JFK and Cincinnati Glen Este, D-III program Brooke County, West Virginia and D-V program Youngstown Ursuline. Their sole loss was to D-II Massillon Washington. Their remaining schedule after Athens is St. Joseph Prep from New Jersey, University Prep from Pittsburgh, Pa., Wheeling Park from Wheeling, W.Va. and Canada Prep Football Academy/Pinehurst School from Ontario, Canada.

Finally, WTOV-9 did a nice little piece about the Athens/Big Red game last night on the 11 p.m. news which was very complimentary of both Mr. Burrow and Mr. Williams mentioning that one is an Ohio State recruit and the other is an Ohio University recruit.

Tim McCoy and WTOV are stooges for Big Red. They sat on the rape story and then waited until every other news source in the valley went public with it. Even then they twisted it until they couldn't bury it any more.
That being said they are pumping the Athens game for obvious reasons. Good players coming to town and the Red could get beat.
Good Luck to Athens and Mr. Burrow.

Valley, I had to laugh because they do pump Big Red football. On the sports segment on the weekends when they are giving high school football scores it is always given by name of the high school and then the team's mascot, as in Indian Creek Redskins or Edison Wildcats. However, when it comes to Steubenville, all that is ever given is simply "Big Red".

"much smaller" than Athens? If their count number is250, then Stubenville is only about 40 boys smaller.

This guy has way more street cred with college coaches than anyone who works for rivals and ESPN. Jon is always well informed and personally watches every single kid he rates.

Burrow was 20-27 for 370yards and 4 TD's, he rushed for 77yds and 2TD's on 17 carries including a 48yd TD.

OHIO recurit Trae Williams went for 144 on 18 carries and 2 TD's

In all Athens out gained Stubenville by 100 yards on 16 fewer plays and put the most points on the board against Stubenville in 51 years. The last team to hang 58 at Death Valley was a small school out of Canton called McKinley.

If there are any doubts, Burrow and Williams and Co. Are for real.

I must say that I never would have believed a TVC team would go the the Valley and beat a Valley legend team. Gotta give the props where they are due....to the Bulldogs.

no matter how you feel about the kid's decision, this is an interesting look at how Urban Meyer recruited Burrow.

I think it's appropriate for consideration here in that a few thought we had a shot at this kid. This article makes it clear we weren't even on the radar screen.

All the more reason that it's completely irrelevant. I don't care about the article. i didn't read it and I don't plan to. I don't read about ohio state recruiting. That said, what might have made the article relevant would have been an angle regarding how close we were to getting him. If we weren't on his radar, then this article is as relevant as an article about Johnny Manziel. this kid is a buckeye, therefore he is completely irrelevant to this chatboard.

His father is directly tied to the Ohio Football program, which makes this relevant.

A big article basically saying a kid was recruited to sit on the bench and is not a top QB. And, how happy everyone is about it, including the recruit. "We really want you to come here just in case the guys we really really really want to come here then next few years don't." Very strange.
