I’m not advocating using this, primarily because it would be criticized/dismissed in various forms because of its use by fans of THE junior institution, but I bring it up to get the recollections of other long time Bobcats fans.

It may be my imagination but was not the “OH-IO” cheer used in the Convo from one side of the arena to the other way back in the day…maybe the early 80s…and possibly prior to its use by Ohio State? Anyone else remember one way or the other?

Your memory is correct. Cheerleaders used to have placards that had either OH or IO, depending which side they were on. I remember this more from football, but it may have been done in basketball, too.

Did we create that chant and OSU stole it?

It would not be the first time this happened.

I can only say I think that might be the case. However, I don’t know with certainty if OSU used it too back when I thought we were using it (and OCF confirms). Admittedly, I followed OSU some back then and I don’t recall it being used. If we had dated pictures of the signs at sporting events that OCF is referencing; and OSU can’t produce anything similar, I say we claim it. :)
