I realize that all the MAC teams share the payouts, after expenses. But assuming that payouts reflect the prestige of the bowls, here's how the MAC's six bowl games this season would rank:

Quick Lane Bowl: $2,000,000
Lending Tree Bowl: $1,500,000
Potato Bowl: $800,000
Arizona Bowl: $350,000
Camellia Bowl: $300,000
Bahamas Bowl: $225,000

The Cure Bowl, which is an alternate for the MAC, is in the middle of that group at $573,125.

As one of the two teams in the MACCG, Ohio should probably be in either the Quick Lane, Lending Tree or Potato bowl. I know it doesn't always happen that way. Last year's MAC champ (NIU) was in the Cure Bowl. But they were 9-4 and played 10-2 Coastal Carolina, so it was an attractive match-up for ESPN. This year, EMU is likely for Quick Lane to help fill seats. Wherever we play, I hope it's against a 9- or 10-win team so it looks attractive to the casual viewer and might fill some seats with locals.

Is that the last minute bowl they created last year when there were 2 extra bowl eligible teams?

Buffalo looks like Akron so far. Gave up a 97-yd TD drive then the punter fumbled the ball in the end zone for a safety. They trail 9-0 at the end of the first quarter. Bulls have dropped a lot of passes, I think they have just one first down. They're not showing the crowd on ESPN+ but if not for the band I think my son's HS JV Saturday morning games had bigger crowds.
