Our guy was bobbling the ball as he rolled out of bounds. Unfortunately for us it was the correct call on the field.

Not a knock on CJ but in a game like this it really makes you appreciate Kurtis and how much he has improved. Game experience matters big time, especially for confidence.

Wellll, you have to admit that today appeared to show that CJ wasn't ready for the conference championship stage. He couldn't make the throws to keep drives going and the defense off the field. Still proud of the team, but I don't think he's the guy right now.

He was the back up QB, he did the best he could do. Not like there were other options. He gave his all, that is all you can ask.

+1 I must agree with this assessment. He did the best he could. I heard an interview with him after the BG game. He seemed like a solid person with a very good attitude and a desire to push himself to the max. He's not as talented as Rourke, but he won the BG game for us and played well when he came in in the previous game. We probably owe two of our wins to him. So, 2-1 for a third-string QB who was thrown into the fire due to an injury when it was least expected. He's true OHIO Bobcat hero in my book.

This. He wasn't down and it WAS a fumble but we didn't have a clear recovery. Ohio player was bobbling the ball as he rolled out of bounds. Since he never established clear possession for the recovery it was the same as just hitting the ball out of bounds. Since UT had the last possession they retained it where the ball went out. Sadly, it was the correct call.

Hell of a ride, Ohio Football. That was my first, and hopefully not last, trip to Detroit. The result is what it is. No disrespect to CJ, but this title game loss was cemented in Muncie. You just can't lose the conference offensive POY and not expect to see an effect. CJ played well against BG, but against Toledo we had to be able to throw the ball and it wasn't working. It felt all game like we needed one or two of those big momentum swinging turnovers, and nearly got two of them. Sure enough, both failed shots at takeaways resulted in points for the Rockets. The defense played a great game, though. Holding Toledo to 17 should have been enough to win a title. Let's hope we bring enough pieces back next year with a healthy Rourke and can find our way back.
